Colors of September
What's more courageous and deeply beautiful than leaves and flowers facing the fall?

1. More than the colors, my dear JeffR...
Your depth of field, and all that that feature brings to these extraordinary pictures, has awed me...

These are stunning!

These are not rare flowers, but the everyday flowers of our lives. But the way you've shown them makes them extraordinary!

These should be printed, and framed with gorgeous lush mats!

Thank you!

:woohoo:

10. Thank you! I was just about to lose the light that day
and in fact shot a bunch a little later that I could not get sharp. It was too late in the day to reliably focus manually, which is difficult for my eyes these days anyway, so I had to trust the 100mm's auto focus, which is not as quick as on Canon lenses, but did the job.

2. Getting ready for the seasonal contest!
I love the 1st one and the 4th. The 4th is so beautifully abstract with just the edge of the flower in focus. Yummy.

11. Thanks for the reminder about the seasonal contest.
I might have to revisit these if the trees don't provide a spectacular autumn. Or, even likelier, that I won't find time to go out shooting when that happens.x(

4th one is my favorite too. Thanks!

4. Very nice, Jeff.
I love the fall. This year I've managed to stretch my autumn season from mid-August on the Alaskan tundra through golden aspens in Colorado and up to the present day now here in Anchorage. I'm in heaven. :)

Your pictures are beautiful.

19. The trip was great,
wonderful weather the whole time, even three days and four nights in SF with no fog! (That was almost spooky, actually, considering the temp was in the upper 80s.) We spent some time in the area west of Colorado Springs, a couple of days in Rocky Mountain National Park and a lovely morning in Roxborough State Park near Denver with InTheFlow.

Unfortunately, I was never able to get hold of F. Gordon, so didn't get to meet him as I had hoped. Other than that, it was a wonderful time.

I'll be getting some pix up on my site soon.

14. I'm ashamed to say I don't know what it is
but it sure is a pretty flower.

6. Sometimes...
Sometimes macro shots of flowers can make everyday flowers look so wonderfully alien and even more beautiful. Really nice Jeff.

15. Thanks very much.
More and more, I'm appreciating my macro lenses and pointing them at things I wouldn't have in the past. But flowers are always appealing as a subject.

7. Your September
Hasn't really come here yet. Thanks for the great preview. I love the mixture of oranges and reds in this group. Very autumn, and very satisfying.

16. Here's hoping you get some soon.
We're having a nice little Indian summer this week, but I'm more or less stuck at home working.

9. Are these ever wonderful.
They almost let me forgive fall for bringing on winter.
My favorites are all of them and the least is the first.

I keep playing with the last one. Moving the mouse up and down an inch back and forth it starts to be alive.
It's gorgeous.

18. "almost let me forgive fall for bringing on winter"
That's pretty much how I feel about it. I love this season through all its quick-changing iterations. Winter, not so much.
