I must be an "accidental photographer"
Like the accidental tourist........

Because, I was really bored sitting in the bass boat, and it was a bit too dark to look for birds and photograph them. There was a big fat full moon over the weekend, and I knew I had never had success with moons. So, I started playing around with all the dials on my Canon.

So, finally I found an "M" on my Canon--

If any of you that don't know how to shoot the moon has a Canon, see if you have an "M" setting.

Not sure if this was M or not..........

1. Oh My! That is of course M for Moon! Who knew?
Beautiful. The first is the one that is most impressive to me, the second and third most satisfying emotionally.
I can see you had a really fine and laid back time.

3. Not me
Never knew I had a moon setting. I think I am just a tad too ADD to read through the manual. So I did mention this to someone I know, and he said that his camera had a picture of a quarter moon on it. I think I would have found that much more quickly. After he said that, it was only THEN (after I had taken these photos) that I realized that M stood for moon. Let's see, I got this camera about a year and a half ago.

2. The third one is a showstopper.
Just gorgeous in its understated way.

I like the others too. I think the M on your camera must stand for "marvelous".

4. Thanks, I'll be playing around with M
now that I found it.

Maybe I will seek out moon pictures after avoiding them for a long time.

6. Great job!
And I haven't seen too much that I would call accidental in your photos. :hi:

8. I also have a Canon with the M feature
In addition to the moon setting, I also have these settings available:

Av: short for avarice. This is the setting you use when photographing GOP officials and their wealthy backers.

Tv: I believe this one is self-explanatory. It sets the shutter to less than 1/60s so you can photograph your television without seeing those annoying lines.

P: short for penultimate. This setting is only for the self-loathing, as it guarantees you'll place second-to-last in any photography contest in which your submitted photo was taken with the P setting.

A-DEP: short for "at depth". This means it's completely safe to take your Canon SLR diving, as deep as you'd like to go.

My camera also has some dial settings that are pictures. There's one of a flower, which is used when photographing hippies. Always set this before setting foot into the Haight.

Finally, there's a little icon that looks like a mountain. This one is a little mysterious, but I believe it has something to do with god creating the world in 6 days.

:)

Nice moon shots, Celebration. Did you use a teleconverter?

9. If only you could hear me howl
This is my single best laugh ever in the photo forum, most prolonged that's for sure.
I was holding the camera at the time, I quickly put in on M so I could hold it really tight, that's for "manual" grip in this case, and so I could not drop it from laughing so hard.
Still gurgling,
camera still held tight with M
appreciating your wit.

Please come back and amuse us after the election, should we be in need of mirth.

What's a teleconverter?

At least you KNOW what your settings are for. Maybe I will try these. ;)

10. Of Mice and Moon
Nice! I really like the "atmosphere' of the third shot, and the lovely sprinkling of light that the moon's reflection makes on the water.

:D
