Unsettled weather over Fort Baker
I took these on during my lunch break yesterday. I used much heavier HDR than I normally do, so I guess this constitutes cheating in some senses, but I liked the effect of the HDR on the clouds, so I'll plead guilty to excessive tonemapping.

1. Not necessarily cheating.
Photography runs on a sliding scale from "documentation" to "art". As long as you are not trying to pass off your HDR work as "documentation", all is good.

I initially skipped over your text, saw the first image, and immediately thought HDR. However, I really like the clouds. (Uncalibrated work monitor)

In the second one, given the darkness of the sky, the foreground seems a little too bright, but that might be just me.

4. The Outrigger Canoe in the foreground
is right out of my backyard...

Both deserve a "Bravo Zulu"!

Living in the land of outriggers and the best canoeists in the world... Ta'ata Tahiti.... The just kicked the Hawaiian's butts in the Molokai race recently our canoes placed I believe the Top 4 places and the 5th canoe came in the top 10... Makes us rather proud.....

Great work and in Nov we have the Havai'iki Nui that runs for the better part of a week. They start in Huahine and the first leg is to Raiatea then on to Taha'a and finish up at Matira Beach on Bora Bora.... I hope to find a place on a Bonitier or a poti marara and shoot the whole thing.... Moree laters... BTW that will be my first real sport shoot....

Now to shoot as good as you........
