1. Go to www.photobucket.com and open an account, it's free.
Edited on Sat Dec-11-10 11:32 PM by Mira
Once you have done that and you are comfortable with opening it and have your password and login all understood then have the photo you want to upload on the desktop in jpg format.

Open photobucket and find where it says: "Upload photo" and click on it.

Then find where it says "customize your upload options" which is small blue letters.
Click it and set the size for 600 x 800 and click save.

Then click on the green field that says "upload" and find the photo on the desktop.
Double click and it will upload, you can watch the progress on the horizontal upload bar

When it's done you need to click on the words "save to album".

When it opens in the album click on it and it will get a bit larger and the upload codes will be right beside it.

Copy the one on the bottom of the list, the IMG image one.

Then paste it into the window where the words go when you make a post on DU,
click on preview, and if it looks right give it a header and post it.

Print this out, and just follow it in letter and principle where the words I'm using are not too clear.
Good luck, I look forward to seeing what you've got

? Don't know. She submitted, so it must have worked for her.

Your Dog photo is the best. That's what they mean by hangdog look, and I bet he has never ever been "bad".

5. The direct link is the correct one to use.
Using anything else makes that little gray box appear next to your photo, which you don't want.

Lots of folks haven't figured that one out yet.

6. I've always used the direct link I think
I'm going to give this a try here.

Should I have used this for white? (direct link)

Or this? (last one=image code)

Okay, I just did this and now I see what you mean. I never noticed that little box in the lower left, but then again, I always used direct link.

Oh, and should I change my entry?

8. Nice to see you, hippiewife! I see you are still ever vigilant, and you just taught
me something about that little gray box and where it comes from.
Now if losing it would only improve my photos!

I hope the questioner reads the replies and gets the straight dope on how to do it correctly.
Happy Holidays to you!

9. What little grey box?
I don' see no stinkin' box.

I'm in a Mac. Maybe that makes a difference?

10. I don't have a Mac, but
Is my second whale skeleton picture just a tad to the right of the first one? It is to me, because way down in the lower left corner of the second one is a tiny box, though it doesn't look gray to me. However, it does push the picture further to the right.

12. Hello, dear Mira.
Not that your photos need much in the way of improvement. Good to see you, too.

14. I was not fishing.

Thanks to you the little grey box is missing in my entry for the first time, and it does look better this way without a doubt.
Now the large task of not forgetting to use the correct link looms.

15. I didn't think you were fishing.
Just saying what I believe to be true. Your photos almost always have a mystical quality. My favorite is still the one of your sister in the hammock.

11. Does anyone do this with Webshots?
I have a Webshots account, and a Flicker one...I'm not really wanting to open yet another account unless I have to.

13. Why don't you check and see?
There would have to be a dedicated page for your picture on their website. I don't *think* Flickr works that way. Try seeing if there is an image location on Webshots, and then post it here, but instead of clicking on Post Message, click on Preview and see what it looks like. If it works out okay, then you can post it. If not, try again or get a Photobucket account.

Photobucket is free for lots of pictures.

19. Looks like a great pic,
But can you make it larger? I think it is about one half the size allowed, so it might get a bit lost in the contest. But in any case, you should enter it. Very nice.

21. Thank you.....I don't know if I want to enter the contest now.....
If I see something white and get a better photograph, I may. Anyway, it seems to work with Webshots too.
