New info on the upcoming Fujifilm X100 |
|
http://www.finepix-x100.com/whats-new/latest-updatesThis is a 12mp APS-C fixed lens, fixed focal length camera that has been creating quite a buzz. I think it is beautiful, but fear it is way out of my price range.

1. But considering it's half the price of what it's competing against |

it appears to be quite a bargain.
I'm looking forward to someone doing a side by side comparison with the Leica X1

2. Yeah, I heard it will be around $1,000. If anything it appears |
|
to beat the X1 in speed. Speed is the one complaint I heard about the X1.
I heard it will be out in March.
I like the viewfinder.

3. The viewfinder alone makes this very appealing. |

I've immediately added this camera to my list of "Things I'll probably never buy for myself, but if someone gave me one I'd kiss their feet."

4. I'd be happy with a GF1 or something like it. But if the price |
|
is under $1,000, I might think about it, but buy something else.
I do like the looks of the Samsung NX10/NX100 and the Sony NEX, they spec out well, and seem to have a very happy following. There seems to be more creative thinking around the Sony camp. That could be because they may not be that thrilled with the kit lenses, and are experimenting with adaptors and legacy lenses like old M42 manual lenses. It's attracted the tinkerer. That's a good sign.
I have months before I decide, so lets see what works out my mid to late spring.
Maybe the X100 will be on the market and fully tested by then. Can't wait to see how good it is.

5. Purely as a matter of design aesthetic, the X100 is a beauty. |
|
I think all these rangefinder-inspired cameras are gorgeous, but from the pics, this one looks especially good. I'd feel like I'd have to get a beret for good measure.

6. I have the beret, best winter hat I have. I've had it for at least 20 hrs. |
|
Now I'd like a camera of similar utility. My Canon G10 is a rugged camera, but iso 80, and in a pinch 100 is all I can use. Still, working within its limitations is no big thing. I want better low light performance and little shutter lag.
