More fun and games with color and black and white
As well as a memory of 2010: One of these things is not like the other

In this my first session of taking photos in the b/w setting rather than converting them with Picasa, I am finding the difference startling and pleasing. But it takes some re-thinking as Alfredo said somewhere in one of his posts. You have to think: black and white.

I hope you can tell I was having fun.

1. That is the sadist looking dog I've ever seen.
Yeah, you have to flip a little switch in your brain to black and white. Forces you to think more in terms of composition.

4. Exactly. Color can distract from form. You see the red rose,
but miss the geometry of the leaves. You miss the subtle shades by being dazzled by the flash of color.

2. Rarely do I like the black and white better
But here I do--and I think it is the composition!

Nice seasonal pics!

3. What a difference. Black and white unhinges the subject
from date and time. It also brings out details. Look at the Santa beard down front and center. Compare the Santa in the box.

I like the triangle formed with the two clocks and the doggie lamp.
