Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest

I entered this contest last year, and I thought I would invite the rest of the DU Photo group to enter this year.

It's easy to do---you just upload your photographs onto their website. The category winners each receive $500 and the grand prize winner gets a vacation at the Grand Canyon.

1. National Geographic has a "photo of the day"

contest, or at least they did last year. They randomly picked a submitted photo to post on the web site each day and then had a judged contest at the end of a certain period of time. I submitted several, but I guess they weren't good enough or I wasn't lucky enough to get picked. :(

ed. I just checked the site. I see the "photo of the day," but apparently they're not taking entries right now.
