Kodak DC 290 Digital Camera has photos held captive inside...
has anyone here had this experience? Does anyone here have one of these cameras? I can't figure out how to get them out? I tried to hook up the camera to my computer, I even followed the directions but I just get an error message that basically says there is no camera connected. I downloaded the Kodak upgrade - still didn't work. I got the easy share software - still didn't work. I don't know what to do? I guess I need to contact Kodak? Can anyone relate? Any words of wisdom or experience to share? Thanks.

1. It might be a problem with the connection cable
I'm not familiar with the camera, but I once had similar problems using a memory card reader. It would tell me there was no camera connected. I ended up exchanging the memory card reader and now it works fine.

2. Hey thanks, what did you exchange your memory card reader
for? I don't know anything about this stuff. I am learning as I go. I got the camera as a gift.

3. I just exchanged it for a newer one, but the same model.
This, of course, after several frustrating days on the phone with the people from scandisk (the company that made it), trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Finally, after trying all sorts of things, the guy says, "it looks like you ended up with a defective card reader. Why don't you send it to us and we'll send you a new one."
I saved myself a stamp and returned it to Best Buy.
