KOEB Meeting 2/21/08 Post-Debate Edition

Ready for another hour of Keith?

Or will it just be a Xerox?

2. Hi all!
I'm enjoying this tremendously.

Also, I went to a delegate training tonight, so I could tell you ANY little detail you need to know.

Ugh, it's boss hijack. With a PINK TIE and pink shirt? o.O

And it's not too Boss Hijacky for me.

So how did the training go?

13. Obviously, I must get a new TV asap.
Does MSNBC broadcast in Hi-Def?! :loveya:

The training was good! I am boning up on the minutia. Among other things:
- You may come late, but your presence will not change anything that has already happened.
- You may be elected as a delegate even if you're not there, but if you don't get elected that night, you can't get put on the list later. You can, however, ask the credentials committee at the Senate District level to send you to State.
- We're not starting the caucus until everyone's done voting.

Annnnnnnnnnnnd
- We expect this to be the largest turnout primary EVER. :wow: :scared:

And yes, I do believe MSNBC broadcasts in Hi-Def, but some people say it's icky because they don't like seeing every pore on Keith's face.

Me, I could live with it. :loveya:

Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 10:37 PM by BerryBush
They're crapola. Totally tineared. Not a working blue-collar person on this planet believes for a second that Hillary knows what it's like to work on your feet all night long for minimum wage. Because they know she doesn't. The fact that she's worked long hours does NOT make her their sista. It just doesn't.

Better that she should have addressed the things that concern people in that position and not attempted to claim she knows what they're going through because she is somehow one of them, but that she is going to help them because she really does CARE about them and is in a position to know the fastest, most effective way to help them.

She shouldn't be pretending to be one of them. She should say "OK, I'm not one of you, but that's the advantage I have that I can put to work for you. Elect me because you matter to me and I will listen to you, and I will use my position to address your concerns."

67. She has always been at her best when she's real and not scripted.
Her real self is as strong in its own way as Obama's charisma and magnetism. But she hasn't been using it. She's been using catchphrases and slogans, being loud and strident in a way that sounds strained. (She has sounded hoarse a lot, which hasn't helped.) It's not just sexism that makes her seem worse because of that, either. It just sounds negative, nasty and fake.

And man, that guy who introduced her in Youngstown...THAT guy needed the hook.

62. Absolutely correct, Berry!
I was thinking about that today, specifically as it relates to John Edwards. A lot of his critics on DU slammed him because he has a big house, made a lot of money, etc. But guess what? The reality is, you can have all the compassion in the world for those who are down and out, but if you don't have money, or access to it, you won't get as much done for those people as you would if you did have it.

There is nothing wrong with being born into, or working your way into, wealth. But it IS wrong to pretend that you've been in a place that you haven't been. You can have compassion for those less well-off than you; just don't pretend to really be one of those people. Those in the less-well-off group won't appreciate it.

but the way this reads they aren't taking people in buses over to vote for Hillary. They are telling people to go vote for her and then come see her.

If I was running this, I'd have people meet in the parking lot, and take them to vote first. That wouldn't make her feel so bad, maybe, about having to stump in a parking lot. :)

64. That line of hers "We'll be fine"
reminded me sooooooooooooooooooooooooo much of John Edward's exit speech.

82. DAMN, why does MSNBC have to host a debate in Cleveland
and we get stuck with Brian Williams and Mayor McCheese as crappy moderators?????

While Keith gets to sit tight in New York yet again????

No fair.

90. Maybe I should try the Tonya Harding approach.
Whack Brian and Timmeh in the knees and Tweety for good measure so they have no capable anchor left other than...

("Why?? Why??" "'Cause I want Keith in Cleveland, you idiots.")

Um, just kidding, Agent Mike. O8)

85. Some observations from Clinton Land
Edited on Thu Feb-21-08 11:05 PM by WolverineDG
:hi:

Just got back from my debate watching party at HQ. First off, Hillary's body language said it all. Clenched jaw, sitting with her body turned away from Barack, & then moving visibly away from the Univision anchor when he asked the bilingual question. Dagger eyes, clenched jaws again, scribbling notes. Trying to score points by naming (but not quoting) legendary Texans Barbara Jordan & Ann Richards. I lost the pool---I had Molly Ivins & Cesar Chavez. :( I swear she would have been struck by lightning had she mentioned Molly's name.

Barack came back well by quoting Barbara Jordan, not simply noting that today is her birthday.

The Xerox comment got boos around the room. Wowzer. I cannot believe she (a) came up with that on her own or (b) thought it would score points.

They had to re-ask a question because she kept rattling on about health care (get as much free exposure as possible).

The last statement came across as phony. Sorry, folks, it seemed to us that she was describing those poor vets in an attempt to make herself choke up &/or cry. Reaching out for Barack after spending the entire debate pulling away from him = not a good move either.

The parting shots of the candidates showed her with two local suck ups, who were roundly booed.

Especially since she stole her closing from Edwards.

89. I checked...sure enough, the "Live" flag was missing on a lot of the early show.
Edited on Fri Feb-22-08 12:11 AM by BerryBush
Keith did prerecord.

Edit: It's missing on ALL of the show. Even the part with Rachel.

Yep, Keith needed to watch the debate. Even HE wasn't around for Countdown tonight, so to speak.
