4. It was amazing.
I haven't heard the spin, but from what I gather, we aren't the only ones who think so.

9. Yep!
The way he addressed the Rev. Wright issue, using the example of his grandmother, was just fantastic.

Reminded me of my dad, a good man overall, but he was also a racist. I hated that, but I didn't hate my father. I wouldn't throw him under the bus either.

13. I streamed it, and then I read it.
It was more powerful, I think, on the page. But no matter how it's absorbed, it's just important for it be absorbed.

also said that the way he delivered it was very important.

Very conversational, nice low tone, easy to listen to.

37. It was actually good that he toned down the fiery rhetoric.
He didn't want to come on like a preacher today. He wanted to come on like a president.

43. That's exactly right.
He wanted people to LISTEN to him, people who were pissed off at him because of Rev. Wright. Had he spoken like the fiery preacher, it would not have had the impact that he did.

7. Unbelievable. Perfect. Hit every note and hit them ALL right.
I was practically crying at my desk, and I know people are already making fun of us for this...but the reason this worked is because it is so TRUE. Because ALL of us can relate to it in some way. Each of us has a story...just like the story Keith just told of his grandfather. But it's up to us ALL to make things better.

12. I know. I don't get why those who don't support him can't lay down
their campaign signs long enough to really LISTEN to what he said! I listened to him not as a candidate, but as a man who sought to explain some of the realities of racism in this country.

20. He did so many things he needed to do.
And one of them was that HE REMINDED PEOPLE HE IS HALF WHITE...that it would be DUMB for him to be racist because he's not JUST a black man, he's a man with African AND Caucasian blood in his veins...and that just as there are REASONS black people have said racist things amongst their own people about whites, there are REASONS white people have said racist things amongst their own people about blacks. Because they are all AFRAID. Because they are afraid the American dream is a zero-sum game in which "if their group wins, my group loses." But that's NOT SO. Nobody wins unless everybody wins. We win together.

45. We also have to realize who the real enemy is.
It is not the blacks, or the whites, or the illegal immigrants. It is not even the Chinese. It is all the people who are trying to GET THEIRS AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHERS. And I don't mean EVERY corporate CEO or EVERY person in power. Just the bad apples!

Let's focus on getting rid of THEM and on helping all of US solve the problems we need to solve! Poverty, disease, etc!

because we ALL have relatives who do & say things like that. We can distance ourselves from them, but we can't completely disown them from our lives.

29. Yes. I agree, kids will be reading about this one in history books years from now.
And it was a no-brainer that Keith would be impressed. You know, the Hillary supporters want to believe he's a blind Obamabot because he hates Hillary or something, or because he just irrationally favors Obama, but I can tell them in a nutshell why Keith seems so admiring of the man: He's a sucker for an eloquent speaker. He is one, and he damn well knows one when he sees one.

:hi: Oh no. Every thing's fine. Tonight is the Parent/Teacher Conference at school. It's a little different because Cassie came with me and SHE actually showed me what she's been working on (classwork and science experiments). All the kids did this. Met her Gym Teacher AND went to the Book Fair. Got 6 books (a treat from her Grandmother) for doing so well on her report card and MEAP test.

79. Maybe it was the ugly sweaters that made him look bigger

81. Then again, anyone would look that way next to Keith.
I'm convinced they pad out his shoulders a lot to compensate for his rather pear-shaped bod.

83. Great Countdown tonight, I didn't post during because for once Mr. Bunny
sat through the whole thing with me. He likes Keith but rarely gets the chance to watch from the beginning and then doesn't usually like the fluffier stuff later on.
