Mom made it through her experience okay. Long story short, turns out the two procedures they did didn't involve an MRI or putting her inside a machine(all that worry she had for nothing) :), but I don't blame her because she was given the wrong info. She did have a bone scan done and one other thing, but won't know the results until next week sometime.
She was still kinda loopy when I spoke to her yesterday. She said the medicine she took to calm her was perhaps too good. She said as she went into the hospital she had to hold onto a railing that was attached to the wall to keep from falling over. My dad was walking behind her holding her purse when a nurse approached and asked if she was all right and did she need a wheelchair. When she was telling me this I got a visual of my Mom swaying drunkenly down a hospital hall. :rofl: My Mom has never drank in her life so this was just too funny to me.
Now as to my baby, Sheridan, he is home and recovering. The vet said they removed most of the tumor from his mouth. She said it was a bony tumor, soft on top but harder further inside with pieces of bone in it. She removed almost all of it and said what was left is in his jaw. She was pretty sure it is benign, but it is being sent off for a biopsy anyway. Just to be sure. I should know something the first of next week. There is the probability it will come back, but not anytime soon. The Vet said to get it all they would have to remove some of his jaw, but that I shouldn't worry about it. She said due to his age he would have other issues occurring before the tumor became a problem again.
The Vet also said his blood work was great, just a little anemic, but she felt it was due to the tumor. She also said for a 12 year old dog his teeth were in great shape and looked great after the dental tech gave them a good cleaning. That made me feel really good because over the last 2 years I've felt like a bad mommy, not being able to care for Sheridan as I have in the past due to my work change.
Sheridan was so funny after I got him home. He was still feeling the effects of the meds they gave him. Poor baby was stumbling around my apartment and looking at me with this glassy eyed stare that looked right past me. The Vet told me that when they gave him the morphine and the other drugs he turned into a 90lbs rock. It took 3 people to put him on the table. :rofl: He was understandably quiet last night, but is doing much better today. He's on some pain meds and some antibiotics. The Vet even gave him a cute surgical bandanna. I took a picture of him in it today because last night he was just too loopy.
I wanted to thank everyone for their good thoughts and wishes for my family. It meant a lot to me. Sheridan and my Mom are doing fine. :-D
