Hey Rev, never thought I"d say it, but I'm exhausted from thumping.
Over at the autism/thimerasol threads in response to RFK Jr.'s article in Salon. I give up. Such nasty little intellectuals over there, with the compassion and emotional intelligence of gnats.

5. It's OK. I went over there and thumped until I got an apology of sorts.

Let's just say that childhood vaccines and possible autism link is an issue that has personally affected my family. I probably can't be objective enough during a discussion about it for that reason. I especially get upset when I run into people who are seemingly all brain and no compassion. They just seem to want to drive home their 'facts' and don't care if they are insensitive, dismissive, or condescending while doing so.

On a lighter note, my fav crazy lady Margaret Cho is on the Majority Report tonight on AAR. She is so freaking funny. Have any of you ever seen her first solo show movie, 'I'm the One That I Want', PRICELESS.
I might just have to catch Keef in reruns if her interview tonight is on at the same time as he is. I'm torn, I'm verklempt. I still don't have that damn recorder for my tv. I'm hoping KO will cover KKKarl Rove's despicable remarks about Dems tonight among many other things.

Also Howard Dean is on the Daily Show tonight.

This could be good.

6. Hi, Bunny
I'm actually still at work. I hear KO won't be on the rest of the week, so I think you won't have to worry about missing him.

There's a new blog -- a better one than yesterday.

Sorry about whoever in your family has been affected by autism. My cousin has an autistic son who's about 14 or 15 now. I don't know if it was related to vaccines or not, though.

I'm stuck here waiting for a file to upload to our print vendor's Web site. It's taking forever. I'd like to get home sometime soon. I think it's too hot to walk, but I wouldn't mind trying instead of watching CD without KO. That's what I did last night. Then the Pistons are on at 9 and I'll probably watch at least part of it with Dave. I mean, after all, it is for the championship!

7. Hi Sharon. Oh good, I won't have to miss Keith. Too bad though, we
won't be hearing him snark about Rove's disgraceful remarks last night. They will hopefully backfire on him big time. I won't hold my breath.

Thank's for the heads-up on the blog, I'll check it out.

My son was harmed by a vaccine he had when he was 15 months old. It was definitely a reaction to the vaccines and something in them that did it. The change in him was sudden and devastating. One day a happy, healthy, talkative little boy, the next day, after running a high fever and being listless for 24 hours, unable to talk, or even see anything but double vision and blurs, soon after diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder. After years of early intervention, speech therapy, and advocating for him, along with lots of help from kind and competent professionals he is miraculously fine now. 100% ok. We were lucky, he recovered. Many people's children do not.

There are lots of theories about what causes autism, lots of different causes I imagine. I read everything I can get my hands on about it, that's why the attitudes I encountered today on that other thread were particularly frustrating. I can only speak about what I know caused problems in my son's case but I don't rule out any of the science on the subject that is continually being investigated or updated.

Still never got an answer to my main question on the other threads today, Why did Frist add a clause to the Homeland Security bill that indemnified the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly from lawsuits brought by parents of children who believed their kids had been harmed by thimerasol (mercury based preservative) in vaccines? Suspicious no? Lots of people armed with facts debunking thimerasol/autism link but no theories about why Frist might have done that.

10. I'm so glad your son is okay now, Bunny -- you were very lucky
I didn't see the other thread you were referring to, so I can't comment, but what in the hell would lawsuits against Eli Lilly have to do with Homeland Security? Unbelievable that Fristian would add that clause.

By the way, I got my pics from NY back today and there's a good one of the two of us. I will scan and post as soon as I get a chance, hopefully over the weekend. Do you want me to send you a copy -- I got doubles? I'm pretty sure you gave me your address. If not, I'll let you know.

BTW -- I understand KO will be back tomorrow night after all.

No bunny can thump forever. :)
Come on in, take a break, grab a couple of hugs, and rest your weary bunny-thumping legs. And remember, some people are here on DU ONLY to argue. They get their jollies that way. Sad, really.

This is for you:

13. I'm bumping this up to add
that I sympathize with you, bunny. I have my own thump-worthy causes and they frustrate me, too. Things where I say "Why can't people see what is really going on here?" and the political games that are being played. Things that affect me personally.

Sometimes you just need a break from it all.

The funny thing is, Don Imus (perish the thought) may actually be your friend in this department. He appears to agree with you about thimerosal and has been tubthumping to that effect for some time now...and is taking the heat for it politically, too.

Boy, beliefs can make strange bedfellows!

14. Oh I know I heard that. Still don't think I could ever listen to him.
Just read some more documents last week about thimerasol, or some other additive in vaccines causing vision and hearing problems in children too. My son had a severe vision problem (also thankfully we addressed it and he's almost 20/20 now) in addition to the other complications caused by his vaccine, that the pediatric opthamologist says began around the time he was 1 1/2 years old, bingo, same time as the suspect vaccine. Too many coincidinky's for me.

Thanks for understanding my need to thump for my thumpworthy causes. I wish you luck with your thumping as well. Just yell if you need help and I'll come and see if I can get a good bunny kick in for you.
