ASTB 7/11/05 (waaah...)

"Shhh...

"...don't tell anyone I'm off this week. The ratings might go in the toilet! And we can't have that, not when the Rovemeister might finally be about to go down in flames!

"Just stay quiet and enjoy Alison's brave attempt to take all this on! Or at least catch it on the re-air if you choose to watch Puffy McMoonface twisting and turning and grimacing on CSPAN instead!

"There should be plenty of interesting TV on this week either way...just don't expect to see me on any of it! Unless they show shots of the press box at the All-Sta...uh, er, forget I said that.

"Later, 'gators!"

There were waaaaaaaay to many close-ups of Pillsbury Roveboy on Countdown tonight, I almost brought up din-din. It was worse than all those shots of Air Supply on Friday's show (was it Friday's show). Gack!

David was almost as strong on his appearance on Tweety tonight too. He is, rightfully so, pissed off.

I hope more of them get pissed off. I hope someone contacts Helen Thomas and asks her what she would ask if she could. That would be tv worth watching for sure.

5. How disappointing.
I've been watching Rove-gate coverage on and off all day, and was really looking forward to hearing what Keith would do. Sorry, Alison just doesn't have the stuff. I dunno - lack of snark, or that plastic smile on her face - or maybe I'm just missing Keith.

Now we know why he waved goodbye on Friday.

13. You know who really got into the story?
Lou Dobbs, of all people. He was interviewing David Gergen, and he was trying to get a political angle out of him - but Gergen was getting defensive. Finally, Lou said "I'm not interested in the defense - I want to hear the political implications." :)

Even Tweety seems to be salivating (which admittedly, isn't that unusual).

Keith sez...

"Look, you guys. You are disappointing me again. I pop in for a second to see what's happening on the Internets, and look at you...just look at you. *shaking head* This is terrible. Once again, I leave for what I consider to be a WELL-EARNED vacation and what happens? You all get on and kvetch and whine about my absence! And that after my having blogged this morning a blog to end all blogs!!!!

"And all this swooning and drooling over DAVID GREGORY?!?!? Hah! How soon we forget the 'C'mere's' of last week! For shame!!

"What does a guy have to DO to please you people?!? I give up!!!!...Sorry, gotta go. This Home Run Derby is a real barnburner!...ah, forget I said that. Later."

23. I was appreciating Blair's speech this a.m. -
He was focused on steps to be taken, and when he said something significant, they responded "Here, here," rather than breaking into applause.

Then they broke away to cover the blivet's speech, and it was "rah-rah American Patriotism." Such a contrast. What an embarrassment.

The Gackert got into the White House some way or other...by using some talent or other he has...and we know journalism sure ain't it.

So now the question becomes...who let him in the back door? In a manner of speaking??

44. I watched a good portion of Blair's speech on C-SPAN this afternoon and
Once you get past the fact that he is really speaking very eloquent English (compared to the dumbing down we are used to), he didn't have much different to say than blivet** has in his last 4 or 5 speeches. It was all "stay the course" and "fighting them there" bullshit too. It made me think that someone had actually written this speech for Blair from one of blivets** old speeches. It was beautifully spoken, eloquently mastered, but it was still shit no matter how you cut it. I was very surprised to have come to that conclusion about it too.

I am MORTIFIED for my country when I hear the British politicians delivering speeches and taking questions from various right honorable gentlemen/learned friends and then get a load of that strutting, preening, blithering boy at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. I would like to put Bush through Question Time. He'd probably implode. :nuke:

45. Just got a letter from Kerry with a petition to sign
calling for Rove to be fired. Please go to the link and sign!

<snip>
Now Karl Rove is embroiled in another controversy concerning the leaked identity of a covert CIA agent, which Bush Administration senior officials said was done to punish her husband, a man who had the courage to tell the truth about manipulated intelligence in Iraq.

Karl Rove is the President's top advisor in the White House and what he has admitted doing has deep and troubling consequences for our national security.

Just today the President spoke at Quantico praising our soldiers and the employees of the FBI, CIA, and DEA for their work rooting out terrorism.

He told them, "Your work is difficult. It is dangerous. I want you to know how much your country appreciates you, and so do I."

But at the same time the President was saying these words, it was becoming clear that his top advisor was involved in exposing a CIA agent in the name of politics by telling reporters about her work - making her already dangerous job that much more dangerous.

In order to do what the President called on us to do today - "continue to take the fight to the enemy" - the White House and Karl Rove must stop taking it to their so-called political enemies here at home.

It's perfectly clear that Rove - the person at the center of the slash and burn, smear and divide tactics that have come to characterize the Bush Administration - has to go.

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/rove.php

The problem is that, instead of protecting the American people from real threats to our security, this Administration spends its time protecting Karl Rove. That's not leadership.

They're doing their best to brush off this new Rove controversy as just another political story, but this time they are having a harder time getting away with it. That's why, if we raise our voices now, we can really make a difference. Please ask all your friends to sign our "Fire Rove" petition today:

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/rove.php

Despite carefully worded denials, it is now apparent that Karl Rove discussed the identity of an undercover CIA agent with a reporter. His clear aim was to discredit that agent's husband who had dared to challenge the Administration in the buildup to the war.

There appears to be no limit to the lengths to which Rove - and this Administration - will go. But, there is a limit to the patience of the American people - and we have reached it. President Bush has a choice to make: Spend the months ahead focused on protecting Karl Rove's job security or spend them focused on protecting America's national security.

We are asking the President and the White House to do what they promised. When the scandal first broke, here's what the President's spokesman, Scott McClellan, said:

"If anyone in this Administration was involved in it, they would no longer be in this Administration." (9/29/03, White House press briefing). Now we will find out if the Administration is good to its word. Call on President Bush to keep his word and fire Rove now:

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/rove.php

It's as simple as this: We need President Bush and his White House staff to focus on finally taking action necessary to avoid a quagmire in Iraq. The American people can't afford to wait while the White House spends its time and energy defending a top presidential aide's dangerous political shenanigans.

What the President does in the days ahead will speak volumes. He'll either make good on his promise to hold accountable those who shared the identity of a secret soldier in the war on terror - or he'll prove that promise hollow.

We now know that Karl Rove "was involved" in a breach of national security. Decency - and the interests of the American people - demand an end to Karl Rove's days in the White House. It's time for you to demand it as well.

http://www.johnkerry.com/petition/rove.php

I urge you to take action right now.

Sincerely,

John Kerry

66. I like I said
You gotta believe. ;)

No one is more kicked in the gut then he is himself Botany. He licked his wounds in a very public way. He had to do what he had to do in January. Could you have been there and stood the kind of scrutiny that he would have had to endure to if he had been there that day in January? I am one strong bitch, but I don't know that I could have done that. He had other things to do. The work of a shadow president is never done, you know. ;)

Don't give up on him Botany. He has not given up on us. He keeps hammering but his strikes are only as strong as the backup we give him now. So, send that petition to your contacts to sign and, as I said, keep the faith.

 Then, maybe we'll cuddle later. ;)

He promised ..... and that was the day the debt on the promise
came due ...... sure it would have been hard on him but the Conyers report
would have given him cover .....every single dem Senator or Congressperson
should have read a section of that report ...... to this day not one thing in
it has been refuted. But since the "leaders" did not make a stink about the
stolen election got marginalized and the lap dogs in the press got to call
a bunch of fine real patriots "sore loser & conspiracy nuts."

He took them to task with BCCI. He knew just who he was dealing with. What he hadn't counted on was so many fucking stupid sheeple to jump off the cliff behind blivet**.
