So, why is Tucker the golden-haired boy of MSNBC?????? |
|
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 05:43 AM by BerryBush
Inside Cable News reports that MSNBC is making a bigger publicity commitment for Tucker's show than for any other ever. Why, I even clicked on a link to a Washington Post story and THERE right on it was a banner ad for The Situation! Also, note that each night she's been on Countdown Alison has been closing with a plug for the show, just as Keith did before he went on vacation. (Not that they don't always get one from Tweety, but still...)
Why such a huge investment in the little dweeb? Discuss. (And Keith, if you wanna turn me over your knee for that one, I guess I'll just have to sigh and bear the pain...)
On edit: I do like the phrasing of the intro they did on the Web site of the video version of Keith's "Notable Quotables": "Just a light-hearted man's take on current events, or a newscast revolution? Keith delivers the news without the snooze every night, but sometimes even he outdoes himself. Here's a quotable recap of his poignant humor and journalistic integrity." Now THERE's a man who deserves promos!!

1. maybe they *need* to make a bigger publicity push for Tucker |
|
 or maybe MSNBC has decided they should promote their new shows more. Perhaps promoting KO has coincided with a ratings uptick and they think that will work for Tucker, too?

2. I don't know. All I know is, KO on vaca gets a BIG ratings downtick! |
|
Once again, Countdown is down about 100,000 viewers or more because he is not on this week.

3. Tucker and Rick Kaplan are good friends |
|
from way back...that's according to an article I read somewhere on line. KO is supposed to host Tucker's show when Bowtie Boy goes on vacy. Perhaps Bowtie Boy will host Countdown when KO's on vacy? EWWWWWW!! just turned my own stomach. So there you are, the boss' best friend so tread lightly; been there, done that.

4. So how do we get Tucker to take a damned vacation? |
|
and how funny will it be if the ratings jump dramatically when he does?

5. We need for that to happen so KO stays big man on |
|
MSNBC! Just for the record, even though they are friends, Kaplan is a liberal.

6. Where did you read that Keith is "vacation host" of The Situation? |
|
Gogi, where'd that come from? I thought he was going to be an occasional guest as opposed to fill-in host.
Damn, now I have to hope this show succeeds...I really wanna see what Keith would do with it! I think he'd mop the floor with Bowwtie Boy!

9. Keith would *excel* at this format |
|
I think he's a natural subject-hopper and you know he's good at politely soliciting differing points of view and encouraging lively discussion, something Tucker struggles with.

in BFE & he's been named "Bow Tie Boy of the Century," which nets him a big, fancy-looking plaque for his wall.....then send him a one way ticket.....

8. maybe the convention could be in a foreign country |
|
and Tucker would have to go to an immersion class and learn the language first... and darn, he might "lose" his passport while he's there... takes a while to replace those things... O8)

11. Are you sure you're not talking about Joe Scarborough? |
|
I think he's the one who would be truly lost if ever forced to leave the "comfort" of "Scarborough Country"...
