Yeah, the Shub strums while NO/Miss/Bama flood. His voice at the end of the show tonight got me SO MAD. Sheesh, man, these people are in MISERY! The last thing they need to hear is a PEP TALK about how they will soon get over all this! But there were some really good stories, too. The rescue stories and the aid arriving was uplifting. Also, the joy in the broadcasters' voices when they found their own relatives (it happened all day) made me cry.

I'm late, but I'm here.

Had to go to a visitation at a funeral home after work for a coworker's mother who died and then right after we (I was with another friend from work) left the funeral home I had a major flat tire -- must have picked up something in a construction zone. I was near a mall (my favorite one), so pulled in and called AAA. They got there in about 15-20 minutes, fixed the tire in about 5 and we were on our way again. Then when I got home I went for my walk. So, here I am.

36. A hit and run to say hello

I missed the show tonight so will be watching the replay before falling a sleep. It is back to work week and have to get in gear. I have been glued to the news of NOLA and the rest of the gulf states. NOLA which stole my heart two years ago is breaking my heart these days. Not just the buildings and history but the people were so nice and friendly, even the homeless and less fortunate had a smile and warm hello, how are you for everyone they walked by. I have also been keeping up on Merh and others in the area while at work. Will watch to see what we can do personally for our fellow DUers. Yes I have already donated to Red Cross (will not donate to 2nd Harvest after what they did in Orlando last year and I have learned how they work and who controls them.)

On the good side I have swung it so that we are going to go to DC on the 24th. Not sure if we will be able to do much more than the march but at least will be able to be there for it. Seriously thinking of making a KOEB button to wear.

and I got another message through my cousin today, from her aunt. She says gas is becoming very scarce throughout Louisiana, even up in the northern part of the state. We are waiting to hear from her aunt to find out what they need. After that we'll load up the truck with gas and supplies and head out.

Her aunt thinks they should all just evacuate.

Still wonder how many people may of still been stuck on the roads when it hit. Also wondered where the hell the trains were. So many people could of been moved to safety on trains.

Let me know if there is anything I can send to help your family out when you find out more. A word of caution to pass on to them, people up here in Baltimore and surrounding areas are still fighting with FEMA and still fighting with insurance to get their houses rebuilt from Isabel two years ago this month (Sep) It is going to take a long time and they will end up having to fight to get it done right unfortunately.


Listening to the renegade bus thing. Still say no one goes to a stadium with out needing a place to stay.

that now they need boats amid so many other basic needs. When I was talking about the trains, that was to get people out, specially those with no other way out before Katrina hit. Now the tracks are under water, right along the levees.

Part of why I know about that they could of used trains and just didn't bother is because I had to listen to lots of Amtrak, CSX and Norfolk Southern employees have fits that the trains were not being used. They knew they could of.
