Why all KOEB'ers need to become Bosox/Indians fans (if you're not already)
Here's the deal, folks.

In the AL East, the race is pretty much down to the Red Sox and the Yankees.

In the AL Central, the race is pretty much down to the White Sox and the Indians.

Whichever teams lose out on the title in their division are most likely to be the ones it comes down to for the wild card and the pass into the division series.

That means, if the Yankees win the AL East or the wild card, they will be playing baseball in the postseason. And we all know what an extended Yankee season is likely to mean...lots and lots of tuning in Countdown eager for Keith, only to hear a female voice asking us "Which of these stories will you be talking about tomorrow?"

However, if the Red Sox win the AL East, and the Indians win the wild card, the Yankees start dreaming about next season. If the Red Sox win the AL East and the Indians win the Central, the Yanks could still get in on the wild card--but then again, they might not.

The solution is simple. All those who prefer "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" to "Countdown WITHOUT Keith Olbermann" have their marching orders.

It's root, root, root for the Red Sox and the Indians. If they don't win it's a shame!

Otherwise, expect to see a lot of THIS in October!

"Hi! We're just hangin' out, watching the game! What do you mean, 'don't we have a show to do'? 'Show'? What show?"

(Disclaimer. This post was meant in fun and only in fun. But just wait and see if I'm not right. So there.)

1. Ya know what surprised me about this vacation?
That he's taking it so early. I knew if the Yankees got in the playoffs in October, it'd be fill-in time. But this soon? Hm...

(Just wish the Yankees were playing out here. *sigh*)

3. The vacation this week makes perfect sense
given that the Yankees have a HUUUGE home stand this week.

He probably had this vacation planned from the time their schedule came out this year.

4. You can stick with Texas if you like
Anything those teams do is not going to affect what happens to the Yankees this season anyway!

Hmm...your problem with the Rangers wouldn't have anything to do with a previous owner of theirs, now would it?!?!?

7. I'm with you
we took the munchkin to watch the Astros play last Wednesday and it was a wonderful game. It was the first time we'd taken her and she had a blast -- we stayed until the top of the eighth and she was almost asleep on us by then. You should have seen her cheering before that; extremely cute.

As for Keith and his baseball hooky, maybe this is the only way MSNBC could afford him. Instead of asking for insane amounts of money, he asked for semi-insane amounts of money and baseball hooky time. As much as he loves baseball, it would make sense.

5. Please, don't ask a Card's fan to root for the Bosox..it's..it's...
UNNATURAL! On the other hand, if the Yanks win perhaps KO will visit us here in St. Louis! Yeah, that's the ticket! (Cards will still win.)

KO
:loveya: If you do come to St. Louis consider signing some autographs.

I'll say it again: I still think you're the vixen with the greatest chance of meeting Keef in real life. :)

9. We're already BoSox fans - so this shouldn't be a problem.
And, I, for one, would love to see the Indians do SOMETHING. :D

11. At least I am being asked to root for AL teams.
I can get behind that. Plus, it's so easy to hate the Yankees.

Go Fish!
