Congrats for stepping up to the plate while someone else was WATCHING the plate in DC.

Ya done good on the plane thing, girl. Can't have been easy. Congrats.

1. Ya know what I miss most when KO's gone, Berry?
(Okay, I'm lying. It's not what I miss MOST, but a lot.)

Your channeling the spirit of Snark Diddy, and writing his KOEB posts to start the show!

In any event...Allison ROCKED last night. She did the midnight show live, and added in coverage that she'd done earlier in the day.

They have a future star on their hands, if they don't blow it.

7. Why, thanks Muff.
I miss it too, believe me.

Alison did indeed rock. I didn't know she also did a midnight show, but I guess she would have had to. Good for her!

During the whole situation, she never sounded as if she was freaking out or about to call Keith and yell "GET THE F OUT OF THE EFFING BALLPARK AND GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE AND HELP ME OUT!!!"

Not that it would've done her a lot of good last night. It's one thing to take the subway back from the Bronx and get a ride to Secaucus, but when the man is in DC...What's he gonna do, FLY back?!? (ouch)

Anyway, without having any idea how anything was going to turn out, she kept her cool, didn't get sensationalistic or morbid, and stayed on overtime until the whole thing was over. And THEN a midnight show...wow!

I heard a radio interview with one of the passengers. Do you know they didn't turn those TVs off until right before the landing? Yes, they were watching it all...many of them. Can you imagine?

Thank God they all came down OK.

Now, I just hope everyone can get out of the path of Rita in time.

And, oh yeah, I hope everyone escapes the hurricane, too.

25. hi ya Berry
saw some of what went on on the late show. For me I would rather it was on the tv so I knew what was going on. Besides can turn the tv off if you don't want to know but damn hard to get a person to tell you the info if they don't want to tell. lol

I did catch Allison late night and had tape of the plane from earlier. Allison should wear dark color more often, She looks great in black.

Why not draft out a message from an undisclosed field? Since you have the unique ability to channel KO, I have no doubt you're up to the task. (Besides...Sylvia Browne is busy.)

I'm very jealous. Stay out of trouble. If they want to arrest you, go limp! That always makes for the best footage and it looks like it's the most comfortable way to go. :)

I couldn't think of a better way to spend the weekend than an anti-war protest in DC with my fellow KOEBers and DUers.

Have a wonderful time!

a are you packed and ready? I can't wait at this point. I plan on being at the meet up Friday night. We are going to try to sneak in the Native American Museum Friday afternoon, and the WW2 monument since I haven't seen either and most likely will have to go to the Vietnam Memorial somehow. Though the SO has a rough time of it there.

28. I'm planning to pack in the morning
I'm just relaxing tonight -- watching ER, etc. Work has been so stressful the last couple of weeks -- we just got a big, short turnaround project out the door yesterday and I'm ready to collapse. I'm so looking forward to three days away from the office and in a new environment -- I'm ready for adventure.

Livvy, progmom and I get in around 1:30. We'll go check in and then do some sightseeing (at least livvy and I will -- I'm not sure what progmom's plans are). Livvy has never been to DC, so I know she wants to see as much as she can. I've seen most everything except some of the new stuff -- like the WW2 memorial, which I definitely want to see.

We'll be at the Hawk & Dove tomorrow night.

We have to leave my house around 10, so I'll get up around 7 and pack, shower, get ready, etc. What are you bringing? I figured jeans and T-shirts, but it's going to be so hot.

35. First on site seeing
if it isn't too much (used to be $12.a day) I would suggest if you want to see a lot get a tram day pass. They go to all the spots and one goes through every 15 minutes. With the day pass you can ride all day to as many places as you can get to before wearing out. Plus you will save you legs for marching Sat.
I'm taking t-shirt and jeans for tomorrow night, might bring a jacket too, it has been cool at night. Well least cool for me. I will most likely wear shorts Sat. Its suppose to be hot and well thinking shorts and a cool shirt. I have to haul my camera bag since I will not leave it behind. I am going for comfy over everything.
We are driiiving to Cheverly and taking the metro in from there. Not sure when we will get to DC as it all depends on how fast we get moving in the morning. We plan on leaving after rush hour. (Starts about 6am here)

I really should of made KOEB buttons. sigh I don't want to bring my mug cause it would probably get broken.

45. I don't do shorts, so I know I'll be hot on Saturday
That's a good idea about the tram. I'll see what livvy wants to do. We'll only have a few hours Friday afternoon before the meetup, so we'll have to play it by ear.

I did buy very comfortable Ecco shoes last week, so I'm all set there. Comfortable feet are the number one most important thing or I'd never make it through the day. I will bring a jean jacket or blazer for at night, as I'm sure it will cool down some. I'm bringing a medium-sized leather backpack because I don't want to carry a purse around all day, but between my camera, Palm pilot, cell phone, wallet, water, etc. I'll need something.

a backpack and everything I have to have on me will be in it. I just have to see what I can fit in it besides the camera and lens. I did pair it down to two lens but I want my tripod. Debating there. Won't need it except if I try a night pictures of memorials.

56. I think I might.
We are staying in Cheverly at the Howard Johnson. I stayed there for the Pro Choice march in May and it was pretty nice and close to the metro. I did not want to drive into DC unless there was no other choice. We can't check in until 5 so will probably leave it in the car while in DC during the day, head back to check in around 3ish, chill a bit, get dinner and head back into dc before 7 sometime. Poor Terry isn't even home yet and usually doesn't get home until midnight so figure he will need some chill time sometime.

sent you a pm too.

any highway that gets less traffic. 695 is the beltway and a parking lot at rush hour. I will be heading down 95 until I have to get on 395 I think. way to maybe #95s around. There is rt 40 (Pulaski Hwy and Rt 1. but both out of the way)
If we leave around 8 we should miss all the rush hour stuff. Coming home Sat night shouldn't be a problem unless we run into game traffic somewhere.

Edit to add must look to see what games are where this weekend.

Harbor Tunnel probably. Instead of new plain 95 through the Mc Henry tunnel. And can all depend on the day and all. Both can be pretty bad. I usually go through Mc Henry because it is easier and a straight shot. But looking at directions to the hotel might be on the BW Parkway. That is nice because there are no trucks.

Taking a break from over spoiling the zoo crew, mostly have their stuff done since they will be home alone. Charging camera batteries and packing the camera equipment. Priorities. Clothes next.

My furball has been giving me a fascinating demonstration of "how to chase your tail and destroy an entire sheet of tissue paper at the same time." What talent!

feet as they know something is up when I start rearranging the camera bag. Have to watch my step or I end up stepping on one critter or anther.

better to just read after all was fixed and happy. And now know to look at that list if I suddenly don't see someone around.

I never have time to play at work anymore.

On edit: Nevermind. I went back and found the thread. Glad it had a happy ending.

Now, where's that Mute button?

48. Yep, Alison gave us fair warning
and all over the country, droves of Keith fans could be seen lining up impatiently to snap off their TVs and escape before Rita bore down on them.

"We're warning you! This is serious! EVACUATE THE CHANNEL NOW!"

Unfortunately, some poor victims were either caught unawares or decided to ride her out anyway. Sad. :-(

42. Go Rita Cosby
<Rita Cosby on MSNBC just said she is staying on Galveston. Why do these people take such chances. Just for a hoarse report on a terrible storm. Not a good example. My great grandfather died there in the 1900 storm.>

She might get washed to Aruba to rest next to the missing white girl.

likely to get hurt by an angry person if they lose everything and she says , Hi I'm Rita, sticks a mic and camera in their face and ask a stupid question. The voice alone sets me on edge and makes me want to strangle her.

after her Aruba vacation to NO. She looked worse than thee people who lost everything. By day four, you just knew she smelled. Why?

Who dubbed her "Gargles with Razors"?

I've been watching baseball too.

"Houses the world's most dangerous diseases." Just one person to protect them
nothing like a tease to scare people into watching Ms. "Sandpaper Milkshake

Please tell me why MSNBC paid money to people who went out

88. No reason not to believe
when a team that's been around for a LOUSY FIVE YEARS wins the WORLD SERIES...

of course the D'Backs also know a thing or two about how long it takes SOME teams. Hmph.

I figure that now that the Bosox got theirs, there are only two more teams that are REALLY boiling over with past-dueness. And for the Cubbies, obviously, this year it ain't happening again. Ahem...ahem...
