Hey, they booked Father Guido Sarducci again... :)

Tonight on Countdown
------------------------------------------------------

Add Senator Trent Lott (R-Miss.) to the list of Republicans not entirely pleased with President Bush's nomination of Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. "I have a lot of confidence in this president. I do think he has picked some really good nominees and like all of us, we make mistakes now and then, and it's our responsibility under the constitution in the Senate to review this nominee," Lott said. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9598551/

Strong Grounding in the Church Could Be a Clue to Miers's Priorities. Nathan Hecht and other confidants of Miers all pledge that if the Senate confirms her nomination to the Supreme Court, her judicial values will be guided by the law and the Constitution. But they say her personal values have been shaped by her abiding faith in Jesus, and by her membership in the massive red-brick Valley View Christian Church, where she was baptized as an adult. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/10/04/AR2005100401765.html?sub=AR

President Bush, increasingly concerned about a possible avian flu pandemic, revealed Tuesday that any part of the country where the virus breaks out could likely be quarantined and that he is considering using the military to enforce the decision. http://www.usatoday.com/news/health/2005-10-04-bush-avianflu_x.htm

Religious belief can cause damage to a society, contributing towards high murder rates, abortion, sexual promiscuity and suicide, according to research published today. According to the study, belief in and worship of God are not only unnecessary for a healthy society but may actually contribute to social problems. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2-1798944,00.html
Booked: Father Guido Sarducci.

That's some of what we're planning for tonight's show.

Finally,
A man accused of trying to burglarize a home in Cottonwood, Arizona while naked Tuesday stopped in mid-escape to ask the victim for a pair of shorts, a sheriff's spokeswoman said. The victim threw the shorts to the accused burglar, who then fled, said Susan Quayle, a spokeswoman for the Yavapai County Sheriff's Department. Nickos George Kopsaftis was later arrested next door, apparently while trying to steal a car, Quayle said. "He was wearing the shorts that were donated to him," she said. When deputies arrived, they found a pair of wet socks and a pair of wet pants with Kopsaftis' wallet and ID inside, Quayle said. She said shed didn't know how Kopsaftis' pants got wet.
