I'm back -- what have I missed?

I was sans computer for two days while we were away with our friends. They didn't bring their laptop with them and don't keep a computer at their vacation house. It felt pretty weird being totally disconnected, but at least it was during a slow news time.

I hope all of my KOEB and ASTB friends had a fun and safe New Year's eve. We had a nice weekend away and a nice dinner on NYE, although when our friends made the reservations, the restaurant didn't bother to tell them that they had a set menu for the night -- 6 courses, no choices. The food was ezcellent, but lots of cream sauces and our friends are both lactose intolerant. They had to skip the soup course altogether and get the rest without the sauces. Also, it was very, very expensive. We figured it wouldn't be cheap, but it was worse than we had anticipated by the time we had drinks and the fixed price dinner at $75/person. Then add the tip and you can imagine. Oh, well, we had fun and will have the memories (although I think I would rather have spent the money on a digital camera, which will now have to wait a bit longer -- LOL).
