3. Oh dear, that's unfortunate.
I send my best wishes in the general direction of her and her family. Someone may not agree with me politically but no one should have to be in harm's way.

6. cynical, unhelpful answer:
getting maimed and killed like the rest of 'em. :scared:

They're in my prayers, Wolvie. We've lost far too many already, and I don't give a damn if your relatives are freepers or not; they don't deserve this.

8. i must admit
my first response was: see? i told you so.

NOT helpful, so i waited a second until i calmed down enough to send something nicer & non-political. they know what my stance on this war is, & that i've protested against it & spent time at Camp Casey.

maybe something good will come of this (like they both finally wake the hell up from their koolaid stupor), but the most i'm hoping & praying for right now is that she's only there for 1 year AND doesn't get blown to bits.

10. I can understand the "I told you so" response
kudos to you for biting your tongue. I know it's not always easy. I hope she lives long enough to wake up from the koolaid stupor.

5. How's your family taking the news?
It's one thing to talk about the war in the abstract, but it changes dramatically when someone we love is involved.

 to you and all, DG.

9. they live far away from here
Edited on Sun Jan-15-06 04:08 PM by WolverineDG
north of austin, so it's not an easy sunday drive for me. i don't know if i can make it up there before she leaves, but i will be in austin at the end of march, so i can meet my cousin for dinner somewhere.

as for taking the news, all my cousin said in the email was "we're going to church." i'll hear more later i'm sure, but they're a military family & it's all in the line of duty, etc. etc.

thanks rev.

7. Hugs , regardless of politics
it is hard to have a family member in harm's way. As far as being in the Navy, they have had some there all along, just not as many as the Army or Marines. Keep us up to date and let me know if she should need any care packages once there. I have a feeling lots of us would be willing to send stuff from the KOEB.
