28. A song for Keith, then:
The Biltmore garage wants a grand
But we ain't got a grand on hand.
And they now got a lock on the door
To the gym at P.S. 84.
There's the stock room behind the McCloskey's bar.
But Mrs. McCloskey ain't a good scout.
And things being how they are
The back of the police station is out!
So the Biltmore garage is the spot.
But the one thousand bucks we ain't got.
Why it's good old reliable Nathan!
Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Detroit!
If you're looking for action, his firm is the spot.
Even when the heat is on, it's never too hot.
Not for good old reliable Nathan!
Where it's always just a short walk
To the oldest established, permanent floating,
Crap game in New York

There are well-heeled shooters everywhere, everywhere
There are well-heeled shooters everywhere.
And an awful lot of lettuce
For the fella who can get us there.
If we only had a lousy little grand
We could be a millionaire!
That's good old reliable Nathan!
Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Detroit!
If the size of your bundle you want to increase
He'll arrange that you go broke in quiet and peace
In a hideout provided by Nathan
Where there are no neighbors to squawk.
It's the oldest established permanent floating
Crap game in New York.
Where's the action? Where's the game?
Gotta have the game
Or we'll die from shame.
It's the oldest established, permanent floating
Crap game in New York!

38. "Al Gore lives on my street,
Edited on Tue Jan-17-06 08:25 PM by Clark2008
Three-twenty-something, Lynwood Boulevard.
And, he doesn’t know me
but I voted for him. Yeah, I punched the card!
I don’t know how he lives with knowing,
That even though he won the popular vote
He still lives on my street, right down the street
From me.

One time, I had a bike
And I was a kid, and someone stole it from me
And still I’m mad about that,
Carrying anger, I just can’t let it be.
I need to be more forgiving, I know it,
’Cause even with the popular vote,
Al Gore lives on my street, right down the street,
From me."

Edited to add that the song's at the link. Al Gore does not live on my street, unfortunately.

It's a pretty mixed little suburb with an up-and-coming little downtown. There's been a lot of redevelopment the last few years -- trendy little shops, restaurants, etc. It's about 50% blue collar, non-college-educated and the other 50% has a relatively high gay population, college educated, a bit more upscale. Overall, a pretty nice little community with a mixture of vinyl-sided and brick bungalows and small-to-medium-sized homes. It's about a mile away from me.

Ferndale's nickname among some is "Fashionable Ferndale." It used to be pretty ironic, because it was anything but fashionable, but the name is a bit more appropriate these days.

Honestly, if my cable channel offered a weekdaily pay-per-view David Gregory Scotty Smackdown, I would pay extra just to watch. It's so entertaining to see Stretch sit there and ask the weasel relevant and pointed questions while he tries to make him look like a creep just for asking...and fails...and also fails to say anything other than the phrases he has been trained to repeat like a parrot whenever confronted by journalists seeing answers.

Not that that keeps people from being gay.

I'm just saying, he's not single.

But, unlike the vast majority of DU, I honestly believe the man is happier NOT in politics and won't run and we shouldn't hitch our hopes to that never-rising star.

But, Al IS BEAUTIFUL:
