15. The caption says: Disastrous hair. Text as follows: |
|
It's official — or at least one British survey says so, ranking the Mohawk as the worst hair disaster of all time.
The mullet, worn by the likes of David Bowie and Michael Bolton, came second.
The beehive hairdo of the 1960s, as worn by actress Joanna Lumley as Patsy in Absolutely Fabulous, was voted third.
Also in the top 10 terrible dos were the helmet head, the perm, and the ironed look. The telephone poll of 1022 adults was conducted by Braun.
The worst hair disasters of all time include:
- The Mohawk — a favourite of safety-pin-pierced punks and international football stars, including David Beckham.
- The mullet — the 1980s look favoured by Michael Bolton, which adds a nasty twist to a short back and sides.
- The beehive — the 1960s look that defies gravity and kept the hairspray industry in business and made a comeback on catwalks in the 1990s.
- Helmet head — victims appear to have had their hair cut around a bowl.
- New Romantic — long on one side, short on the other.
- Back-combed bouffant — sculpted, sprayed and teased into a helmet of big curls, waves, and bouffant. Popular in the 1960s and '80s. AdvertisementAdvertisement
- Perm — loved by all in the '80s.
- The ironed look — poker-straight hair was once achieved using the classic household appliance, the iron.
- Crimped — a favourite among rockers in the '80s.
- The page boy — Marcus in About a Boy, straight across the front and trimmed to the nape of your neck.

Poor lil shrubbie, sitting front & center, having to listen to speaker after speaker taking pot-shots at him (& he deserved each one), and then seeing first-hand that Bill Clinton is still more popular than he could ever dream of being!
I think the remarks were appropriate, considering Coretta Scott King was a civil rights leader, and if the family was okay with them, who is to judge otherwise?

|
Keith talking about how Michael Jackson was originally unable to respond to the request for him to participate in the Pope JP II poem recording project because of the little trouble about his child molestation trial...after which, KO said, "he was moved to another parish."
*Oooooh.*
Of course, the stories about the funeral and Rove were also laced with some delightful snark as well. I love how he can place that barb so carefully that the victim can never see the hook coming.

Yet another thing I really like about KO: because he's been forced to go carless, unlike so many men, he doesn't have his ego bound up in a pile of metal; hence, he is free to laugh and snark on men who do.
You know how it is for so many guys. The car functions as a visible extension of something else that's near and dear to their hearts but which is normally not on public display.
Which, of course, only makes Keith's joke a couple of weeks ago about thinking of a Ford Taurus as his "sweet new ride" all the funnier.

I'm betting the kid wasn't even in his car seat when they arrived at the store. At this age, he should be in a rear-facing car seat in the back seat of the car. It would be very difficult for someone in the front seat of the car to reach over and take a baby out of a rear-facing seat. So, if she's going to go to the trouble of getting out of the car and climbing into the back seat to remove the kid, why not just sit down next to the kid in the back seat and keep him entertained without unbuckling him?

Of course, I've long been tempted to post the Generic DU News Media Thread, which consists of something like:
"*News Media Person* just tore Bush a new one over his blunder today!" "He DID?? I LOVE *News Media Person*!!!! I want to bear his children!" "Too bad for *News Media Person.* This means he is sure to be fired. His network doesn't allow anyone to deviate from the pro-Bush party line." "Oh no, wait--*News Media Person* just said something about the *Democrats* being disorganized and not taking advantage of Bush's blunder!" "He DID??? Well, that's the last time I EVER watch *News Media Person!*! That sellout MSM whore!" "Good. *News Media Person* is just in the back pocket of the Military Industrial Complex corporation that runs his network anyway. Obviously he just parrots whatever they want him to to support the * agenda." "So right, my friend. I know that for a fact. I threw out my TV 20 years ago. I know better than to trust any of those liars. Of course, I have never even seen *News Media Person* or heard anything he has ever said, but I know he's a liar because he's on TV and I threw out my TV 20 years ago."
