"How many 'masterminds' WERE there?"

It changes daily - just like when they capture the Nos. 2 and 3 in al Quada. :eyes:

40. Hey there, girl!
Yes, the #2 spot has a rotating door on it. Don't get too comforatable in that chair, mister.

Apparently, there are so many masterminds the only way we can find them is by warrantless wiretapping.

:hi: to the rest of your house too.

112. And don't forget the so-called 20th hijacker.
It appears that Zacarias Moussaoui, currently facing the sentencing phase of his trial, is most often referred to as the 20th hijacker, but there have been other figures identified as the same.

114. Noron O'Donnell!
Let joy be unconfined! Norah's new nickname catches on across the web. A little background:

http://www.jameswolcott.com/

"I Solemnly Cast My Vote
Posted by James Wolcott

That NBC's correspondent with the Dancing Eyes henceforth bear the enchanting name of Noron*.

*Which I believe was the name of a planet on Rocky Jones: Space Ranger."

http://firedoglake.blogspot.com/2006_02_05_firedoglake_archive.html#113937794169655135

Our Name Norah contest is over, and not without its share of attendant drama. Atrios was accused of stuffing the ballot box, our Diebold machines broke down when punaise cast a write-in vote for
'Ole 60 Grit' O'Beirne, Wolcott was taking furious exit polls and TBogg wrote to say that if 'Noron' was not the winner I could expect to find Tim Russert's head in my bed.

"Fortunately the democratic process has liberated me from this ghastly fate and 'Noron' is, in fact the winner."

I just read "Imperial Hubris" and I'm starting on "The Man Who Knew" (about John P. O'Neill - NOT of "swift liars" fame). I no longer need convincing of that.

67. I just checked the weather forecast for NY next weekend
It only goes as far as Saturday, but it's supposed to be in the mid- to upper 40s Friday and Saturday with scattered showers. I hope they're very widely scattered.

Of course, the forecast is liable to change about 10 times between now and then.

89. This is totally off-topic, but I think it's scary
My daughter has been corresponding with a guy for 8-9 months whom she met on line. He lives in DC and works for Homeland Security as an intelligence analyst. She "met him" while she was living in Flala, not when she was in DC. Well, as you all know, she recently moved back home. The HSD guy was in town working the Superbowl last week, so she finally got to meet him -- they went out Thursday and Saturday nights. He's very cute and very sweet, but happens to be 10 years older than her and is currently separated from his wife. He also has three kids.

None of that is the scary stuff.

She told him about me being on DU and talked about the KOEB. Here's the clincher: He knew what the KOEB was! So, as much as we kid around about it, and as unsurprising as this is, we do actually seem to be on their radar. Agent Mike is real (although this guy is not Mike).

126. probably not us so much as Keith
The current administration seems to be acutely sensitive to any dissent -- witness the spying on the Quakers. Quakers! What are they going to do, lecture somebody to death?

Anyway, when you think about it, KO could be seen as a potentially threatening media figure simply for being willing to report on the shortcomings of the administration and its policies. That he's also willing to speak about the Democrat's shortcomings is irrelevant -- when you're paranoid, you're paranoid. And when you're paranoid, you start to worry about who's listening to the guy who's pointing out that the Emperor is nekkid and boy howdy, he should've put some drawers on before leaving the palace.

Crispy's right, though. When I think about spending our taxes to pay agents to listen to us natter when they could be monitoring the activities of people with violent tendencies who want to hurt our country, it makes me angry and ill and sad, all at the same time. Some of us still believe in achieving our desired goals through lawful means, even if our fearful leader has given up on that principle.

108. I have a question about that "Fallen Heroes Fund" commercial.
It looks like some sort of MSNBC campaign. Lord knows that they used their entire cast of pundits on the ad to promote it...with the glaring exception of ONE of them.

Hell, they even used Imus...and not Keith.

What is up with that? Did they not invite him, or did he refuse? I can't see Keith actively refusing to be part of or to promote an effort that helps military people or their families in any way.

But I sure can see people criticizing him if they think he's deliberately refused to take part and that's why he's not on the ads.

*sigh* I really AM in a foul mood today.

Maybe KO was'nt available when they filmed the ad, maybe he'll be on another ad and maybe he and Chris the screamer don't get along. Could be any great or small reason, but of one thing I'm certain, we'll never know so unbunch your panties and save your energy for protesting the Blivet and all he stands for.

on edit: The Fallen Heroes Fund is a private fund raising effort (not an MSNBC deal) promoted by Tweety on his show.
Seen in that light the choice of people is logical as they're all war supporters.
