Edited on Wed Feb-15-06 08:10 PM by BerryBush
It's hard to tell because he does have a red tie with a small pattern.

I won't be able to figure it until they show him close up again.

on edit: No, I don't think so. At a distance, the tie reads like it has a horizontal pattern. Bocara 2 reads at a distance as having a diagonal pattern. Oh well!

114. "kind of melancholy".
more like he's looking straight out of hell, wanting everything he's reporting to somehow be unreal. This picture haunts me and takes me back to that day in a way that footage of the Towers falling or the Pentagon being hit doesn't. Maybe it's because we've been oversaturated with those images, or maybe it's seeing the impact mirrored in human instead of inanimate terms.

118. Well, I'm sorry if I didn't use the exact same words you used
but it makes me melancholy to look at it now...even if what it depicts is more like a moment out of hell.

There are a lot of things about that day that when I look back make me feel a range of things...from melancholy to horror to anger. I would guess I'm not alone in that.

I say that just because I do not want to leave people with the impression that this is just one of those pictures I moon over. On the contrary, to me it brings up a mixture of feelings.

I still haven't read the book (yes, even after 15 years of working in a bookstore ), so I don't have a clue who would be right for the part.

On edit: Apropos of The Da Vinci Code, am I the only one here who's actually met members of Opus Dei? Or does the Rev have a few stories?

Just saw this -- sorry for the delayed response.

We came up with many, many options. I sort of liked Clooney, but he may be a tad too old -- maybe not, though. I can't even remember now who else we came up with. We just tossed around a lot of names.

You really need to read it -- it's great. Quite a page-turner. Very hard to put down.

Actually, I'm fairly certain George Clooney is younger than Tom Hanks. Maybe the grey hair throws people off, though.

At any rate, I'm sure Clooney would have no trouble playing an academic in a thriller. Besides, EDVs would be flocking to the theaters!

Not that I'm not going to see it even with Hanks, but I just don't think he's right. It needs someone hunkier. One of our other choices was Johnny Depp -- he can play anything from a pirate to a writer, so he'd make a great adventurous professor-type.

99. I've called BS from day one of this
I didn't hear the part about a hill being involved, but here in South Texas, ain't no such thing. There are "rises" that occur naturally, but they're not high enough to be considered "hills" by any mean stretch, especially on "ranch" land. Since they were supposedly driving around, I presume that whoever said "hill" meant that Mr. Whittington went to go fetch his prey in the drainage ditch dug beside the road (remember, they were driving around looking for quail, right?) and was coming back out of it, BEHIND CHENEY when he got shot in the face.

And now Cheney takes responsibility? I guess the standard "blame the victim" routine wasn't polling very well.

102. The whole story does not pass the smell test ....
,,,,, and now Mr. W has shot in his lung, liver, and heart? From 90 feet through clothing
shirt, jacket, vest, skin, chest wall, and muscle ......

I love how "they" are saying he is in ICU for privacy ...... 24/7 observation is privacy?

So in Texas can I shot somebody in the face and tell the cops I will talk to them in the
morning because although I am not a doctor I want to make sure the victim gets
good care @ a hospital I am not even @?

106. You don't stick someone in ICU for privacy
Now that's just another BS story. It would be very easy to put Mr. Whittington in a private room & have an officer (deputy, police, hospital security) stand outside to keep looky-loos away. If the WH is THAT involved in his treatment, I'm sure they'd pony up one of the SS agents in CC to babysit him.

ICU is NOT a comfortable place to be. You do NOT have your own room with your own door & bathroom. You're in a partitioned area surrounding a nurse's station (so they can get to you quickly if you code). It's noisy, what with all the monitors beeping & patients coding & medical staff running back & forth. I doubt seriously he's getting any work done, as is being claimed. He can't use a cell phone in the hospital, for starters. Since he had a "minor" heart attack, I'm stunned they don't have him in Cardiac ICU, which is even more restrictive & less private than ICU.\

Remember also at the beginning, one of the administrators at the hospital was saying Mr. Whittington was talking & acting like he was visiting the admin in his living room? Yah. As if.

112. I concur
My mother was a nurse and worked for many years on the private, fancy schmancy floor in the hospital. These rooms were almost suites and this is where you stay for privacy and comfort. No one ever stays in ICU for privacy. BS.

113. People are admitted to ICU if they need constant monitoring.
Some hospitals are now calling it the "Constant Care Unit". And most (but not all) patients are hooked up to monitors.

Considering this guy has birdshot throughout his upper torso, they are probably damned worried about blood clots (especially in the lungs). I think this guy is in ICU because he could code at any time. In fact, I suspect that he already has.

115. yeah, I caught that "hill" BS too
but you know what? I'm not sure Cheney was drunk. This could be just another case of him thinking that rules are for other people. Who needs to follow the safety guidelines and common sense that most hunters use to avoid shooting up their friends or good friends or acquaintances?

Saturday and Sunday. There was only a 20-30 chance of precip at any time (at least the last time I checked a couple of days ago).

Hey, it's better than over two feet of snow.

on edit: I just checked again. It's now supposed to be 51 on Friday with rain, in the 30s on Saturday and 29 on Sunday, but partly cloudy. I'm bringing my warm coat, just in case. I may be too warm on Friday, but it's getting cold at night. Saturday night it's supposed to be 19.

(Of course I'm ready to do that any night, but don't bug me with details.)

THIS is why I never miss the bumper teases. You just never know when Keith's going to do something wacky, or just mispronounce something so badly that he has to start over in English.

But now I think I'll go watch my tape of "Boston Legal" from last night. I was so tired I knew I'd never make it. I almost fell asleep when I went up to finish watching KO. That Tylenol PM really knocked me out. I was fine today, but I have way too much work to get done before tomorrow night. I stayed late tonight and probably will again tomorrow. I have a summary plan description that's over 100 pages to get into layout before I leave for NY. I got it to start on later than I was supposed to today, so I only got about 35 pages done and I'm doing it in InDesign, which I just got this week and am still learning. It's so different from PageMaker.

111. "I'm the guy who pulled the trigger...."
TOTALLY makes this song go through my head:

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?

He was begging on his bended knee
For me to put him from his misery
He hadn't worked at all this century
Said I'd do a job for all humanity

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?

I put a bullet in his sugar head
He thanked me kindly
then he layed down dead
Phoney roses blossomed where he bled
Then all the cheering angels shook my
hand and said

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?

Oh it's the middle of the song
I'm guilty, I'm guilty, I'm guilty
And then I turned and said

There'll be no more pain
from broken hearts
And no more lovers to be torn apart
Before you throw me
in your dungeon dark
Your honour, they'll be putting statues up
In every park

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?

So dear public I'm here to confess
That I'm the one who freed us from this mess
Love won't be calling at your adress
'Cause what you never had you never miss,
I guess

I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?
I'm the man who murdered love
Yeah, what do you think to that?

If you never, ever use it
You know you're gonna lose it
If you never, ever kiss it
How you ever gonna miss it?
