OK, GD's gettin' to me. A bit. |
|
Look at this: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2609011Now far be it from me to deny people the right to their own opinions, but when people don't even SEE that Keith reported on a certain story before they start coming up with conspiracy theories as to why he didn't ("he was SILENCED!"), I really do start to wonder.

I hope someone over there has a sense of humor, but I doubt it.

3. Just more candidates for your ignore list. |
|
I have decided to start ignoring people on the basis of "stupidity." It's working out pretty well for me! :D

10. wow, you must be seeing a LOT of "ignoreds" then |
|
I didn't even bother with having an ignore list until the Duke rape case came along. Some of those threads have been illuminated aspects of DUers that brought to the realization that I don't need to know any more about those individuals than I already do. Ever.

5. Don't you love the person who no longer likes Keith anymore because |
|
he referred to "Trailer Park Tonya"?
Hell, it's practically her name. I'm sure he has nothing against trailer park residents in general.
Sometimes I feel like starting up a weekly poll in GD. "I no longer like Keith Olbermann because..." Each week there would be a fresh set of reasons, along with these old standbys:
"He had too much fluff on the show tonight." "He had someone on the show who expressed a political viewpoint different from mine." "He didn't cover a story I thought he should have covered." "He covered a story I thought he should have covered, but somehow I missed it."
I'm sorry, but the one who failed to see he not only covered Goss, but made him the TOP STORY, was just too much for me. Sometimes you wonder what the poor guy has to do. Maybe the screen with Goss's name on it in huge letters wasn't attention-getting enough at the top of the hour. Maybe he should have had a screen crawl. Maybe a banner: "KEITH IS NOW REPORTING ON THE GOSS RESIGNATION." Maybe they could flash the words on the screen with a little warning tone like they use for weather bulletins.
Oh, and another weekly poll would be this one: "Why Didn't Keith Olbermann Report the Story You Felt He Should Have Covered Or Report It The Way You Wanted Him To?" Choose from the following:
"He works for GE and they silenced him." "He went to too many baseball games." "He was too busy covering the steroid scandal, instead of the REAL news affecting this country." "Actually, he did report it--but of course, that means he's going to be fired. Nice knowing ya, Keith."

6. No, that award goes to |
|
the person who said she no longer liked KO because he thinks Oswald acted alone, so anything KO says now is suspect.

7. Oh, you are so right! I forgot about that one! Thanks for reminding me! |
|
Yes, that lovely band of folks who has decided that if Keith's tinfoil hat isn't picking up the same signals theirs is--or he's not wearing one--that his word is no longer to be trusted.
"Oh no! Keith Olbermann just made it clear that he really doesn't believe, as I do, that * is an outer space alien sent by an enemy planet to be our president so we'll be soft and ready for the alien takeover! He seems to actually believe that * is the product of sexual reproduction between George H.W. and Barbara, and that he became president because of his wealth, prestige and automatic support from the Republican Party--that plus some Supreme Court fiddling/ballot box stuffing! He is participating in the great coverup that denies the fact that the aliens seized control of us and FORCED * upon us! He is part of the CONSPIRACY!!
"That's it, Keith. I am shutting you off. Next thing you know, you'll be saying that crop circles are just a HOAX!"

I also fondly remember that after the election, during those crazy days in December, some were worried that he wasn't really "on vacation". He was disappeared.
DU is sooo fickle. Hero one day, sycophant the next. We need one of those boards where you slide the name over to indicate which way the wind is blowing today.

9. I remember very well back when Keith had to blog from his vacation |
|
just to explain to the denizens of his overstuffed e-mail box that, yes, he was REALLY on vacation; no, he HADN'T been fired; no, no one was holding a gun to his head and forcing him to say this; yes, he would be back on Countdown. Honest. Really. No lie. He promised.
Maybe we should have a "Keith-O-Meter" to indicate where his DU popularity stands from day to day. Is he a hero, or a goat? Check the Keith-O-Meter!
