No KO Friday, Monday, Tuesday
TV Newser reports:

"Former Daily Show correspondent and current NPR "Day to Day" humorist Brian Unger, who has been filling in for Keith Olbermann of late, will be back in Keith's seat on Friday of this week and again next Monday and Tuesday. Could Unger be on the verge of a deal with MSNBC? CNN may also be interested -- Unger recently taped a pilot for Headline News, a tipster says..."

1. He's a good fill-in host.
While he's not KO, he does get the "snark" appeal of the show. I hope MSNBC has the sense to sign him.

2. Perhaps they could sign him up for 9pm
MSNBC desparately needs to do something after Countdown. They're getting killed ratings-wise (last Tuesday saw a drop in the prime demo from 111k all the way down to 58k). Countdown and Scarborough Country just don't work back-to-back, and, obviously, MSNBC decided 10pm just isn't the right place for Scarborough Country. Perhaps a nightly roundtable group with Scarborough, Unger, and Rachel Maddow (her talent is wasted at 11pm since The Situation is against Stewart/Colbert).

3. I'm deeply unhappy.
No KO at night, no KO on Dan Patrick's show.

I hope this is just a nice long baseball vacation for him, but the fact that he took it so suddenly, and without either telling his plans on the air to Dan or Dan mentioning what he was up to--which he usually does when Keith goes on vacation--worries me a bit.

Oh well, I worry too much anyway.

4. it's a long weekend. Maybe he's been planning a vacation for
sometime and didn't tell us. I'm not fussed, although I can't say I think much of Brian as a host.
