KOEB 5/29/06 - Steroid boy passes the Babe edition

KO is probably pissed he's off tonight, but I'm sure he'll cover it again tomorrow.

1. I tuned in to enjoy Keith and found...

...the news is so horrifying that I feel nothing but rattled and angry.

Rumsfeld, Bush, Cheney, and their ilk are so incompetent and vainglorious and contemptible. May the world soon stop paying their price for what they've done. Shame, ever shame, upon all their heads.

Glad to see I'm not totally alone tonight, even though KO is still on vacation.

What you say is unfortunately oh, so true. A pox on all their houses.

Yeah, what a way to begin the Memorial Day broadcast. Brian Unger's handling the job well, but I can only imagine how KO would approach this...

11. Agreed.
:hi: CB and Sharon.

KO's supposed to be off till Wednesday. Wonder if he can stay away that long or if outrage will bring him back.

Well, there should be one piece of comic relief in tonight's show, anyway...the video Brian Unger just referred to, of a "local TV news investigation" that he claims you have to see to believe.

I am ashamed to say, this is a homegrown one. Courtesy of Channel 3 in Cleveland and their "investigative reporter," Carl Monday, whose idea of a great sweeps-month investigation was to go into the local libraries and find...guys in the computer area looking at porn sites. And not just looking at them, ifyaknowwhatImean.

The one shown on his report was caught, as Keith likes to put it, "practicing." I'm sure it will be of much amusement to Sharon that he's wearing an Ohio State shirt. As for Bleev? Not so much.

Our intrepid reporter also goes to the guy's parents' house (where else would an unemployed guy who goes to the library to "practice" to online porn live, but with his parents?) to talk to them about it, and the father goes ballistic in quite an amusing way and threatens to rip the guy a new one.

I tried to watch this online, but it didn't work well on my dialup.

Sometimes, you will take any comic relief you can get--and I guess this counts.

...Oh man, here comes the Brangelina baby news. Please, producers, don't force Keith to cover this. :scared:

16. Melty
Edited on Mon May-29-06 07:26 PM by SharonRB
I walked in a parade with Nancy Skinner and it was almost 90 and muggy. We were absolutely melting. I was the only volunteer to come, so it was me, Nancy, her volunteer coordinator and her field manager. It was fun, but way too hot. Then Nancy took us out to lunch, which is where we heard about the CBS crew.

Joan Jett is giving a fundraising concert for her in NY, which Randi is MCing. I think Randi organized it for her. I really hope she can beat the incumbent.

Then hubby, daughter and I barbecued and relaxed a bit on the patio.

Although at 90 degrees, I've still got the windows open & the AC off (thanks to some trees that shade my house until early noon). I hope Nancy wins. I remember listening to her on the Doug Stephan show (way back when I didn't have a Sirius radio). I liked her.

I decided to stay home. I cooked a nice dinner for my family, and was on and off DU all day
while channel surfing. I watched "crash" on cable (wow, a great movie), and I saw the chimperor
defiling Arlington cemetery (had to switch channels fast).

I was also recovering from the bat mitzvah. Wow, they threw quite a party.

58. He sure is.
And he's got a primary opponent -- a pro-choice, Lesbian "Republican." Obviously a RINO. She almost scares me more than Joe because she could conceivably pull voters who might otherwise vote for Nancy who are fed up with Joe. Of course, the far right of his supporters would never vote for her, so maybe it wouldn't be so bad if she won the primary. They might just stay home.

Nancy was supposed to have three other Dems to contend with in the primary, but they all dropped out of the race, so she's got a clear field.

60. Exactly!
Now that she's the only Democratic candidate, she'll be able to get more money nationally.

If you're not familiar with her, she used to be our morning person on our progressive talk radio station, until they lost their funding for the local morning show. She is originally from this area, but she had a syndicated show out of Chicago for a while and she ran in the primary against Barak Obama and three other candidates. Bad timing -- no one could have beat him. She's been involved in environmental issues for year, prior to being on the radio. She's very knowledgeable on all of the issues and has great national contacts.

Both Obama and Al Franken are supposed to be coming here to do fundraisers for her over the summer. When I met Randi in New York and told her I was working on the Nancy's campaign, she said to tell Nancy to call her for anything she needs. Obviously, that was true because she's doing that Joan Jett concert for her. Nancy has been on Randi's show, as well as on Tom Hartmann's.

It'd be one thing if I only had the occasional weekend of doing nothing...but that's how I spend EVERY weekend...listening to people tell me every week "Well, maybe you NEEDED a weekend of doing nothing" is no longer working, because now the honest answer is "No, frankly I needed one of doing something...and didn't get it."

The guy is ON TV being interviewed about masturbating in a public library while viewing porn, AND it is revealed that he lives with his parents.

Out of all these hundreds of millions of people in the country, they found one guy for whom that apparently is not a living nightmare. I tell you, the human race amazes me virtually every day.
