7. Why are these nimbrods saying Felt is a traitor?
Is it because they hope no one comes out to tell on Bushie's tushie? They want to thwart any attempt by an honorable insider who wants to let the people REALLY know what the Bushits are up to? If they call Mark Felt a traitor maybe they'll stop the next "Deep Throat?"

10. I think that's the whole point.
A president broke the law, a lawman helped bring it to light. How is that traitorous?

61. A lawman who was known for doing things that were not always above board
...but then again, who committed the greater wrong?

And, uh, if government employees aren't supposed to conspire to do anything other than to serve in the government, or whatever, well, isn't the President a government employee? He's not supposed to be conspiring with others to play dirty tricks on the opposing party so he can win reelection...right???

Hi, Whirls!

My life is very hectic right now - I'm headed to Mom's tomorrow for a Friday Dr's appointment. I hope all is well, and you'll get to appeal to you-know-who.

Thanks, CC. This wouldn't be a problem, if you had changed your name right away (just kidding!).

118. But CC is so
easy to type.
Gizmo has an infection (was to the vets today) So he can't have anymore chemo yet. Both his white and red blood counts were down. He is now on two antibiotics, prilosec for ferrets (really), vitamins, nutri-cal and got a syringe to force him to eat. But the vet didn't seem to concerned so still thinking positive thoughts that he will be ok. He goes back next week for another blood test. He is still walking and playing once in a while. I take that as a good sign. It his tummy that is upset (bacterial) and that's why he doesn't want to eat.

123. Sorry to hear that.
Does he like yogurt? The vet told me that Roo should eat it, if he liked it, because it would help control the bacterial tummy stuff.

BTW - Binky's now taking over Roo's job in drinking milk from my cup every night. Some traditions simply must go on. :)

132. Good for Binky
And thank you. Ferrets are so weird foodwise, and didn't think about asking him about yogurt. They can stress like a rabbit and bleed internally therefore prilosec which really seems to help. This has only been today and yesterday so hoping we caught fast enough. He is still better than when I first rushed him to the vet so I will count my blessing there and enjoy everyday with him. And baby him so he can enjoy everyday.

well at least will get to not regretting it. I understood what I was getting into with ferrets and life spans. And I would trade a minute with them in order to avoid the pain of loss. The birds are the consistent ones. Crackers is 20 this year and Harley is 7. Harley can live to be 70 years so have to write him into the will and leave him to a guardian.

He goes to a youth gathering in Green Bay. These are Dobson-lovin', Fristians who believe that God has abandoned all the churches who have gone against HIS WORD. Not only is our church fallen, but I am in deep peril for the salvation of my soul, because I have turned my back on GOD'S WORD. Stupid, silly woman. :banghead:

79. I'm wondering, since they're in Green Bay,
if they'd offer up Vikings and Lions and Bears (oh, my!).

And even though some high-profile GB Packers have attended there (it was Reggie White's church), I wonder how they could reconcile the Cult of Packerdom, as well as the fact that they were "working" on a Sunday.

Even Fristians have their inconsistencies.

RJ doesn't go there anymore, but he's still friends with a number of the kids who do go. The one who started all this shit was one of the kids' mothers, who interjected her opinion on their discussion.

BTW - these same "friends" are refusing to go to his confirmation - not because of me, but because God is no longer working in the mainline churches. They're even more narrow than the Catholics and the conservative Lutherans around here.

was saved just in time from the narrow minded Fristian types. That church my sister started going to sounds great. They prefer you come as you are and welcome the homeless in the area with open arms and hearts. They also do a lot for the homeless. There are good churches out there even in Fla la la land. They just don't seem to spend all their money on becoming mega churchs though.

It really grew when Reggie started going there - he'd get up and preach (obviously, Saturday services), and it really brought a spiritual renewal to the area. Then it started getting Fristian after he left. I think they got attracted to the allure of $$.

He's struggling, because even though it's IN the Bible, he's not sure that he believes it. I reminded him that the Bible condones slavery, but we no longer practice it, because it IS wrong.

I also told him we don't worship the Bible, we read it - all of it - very carefully.

He was actually looking for ways to refute the text, so he could go back and argue with his friends. I was glad to help him.

Speaking of slaves, did you see the story today
Edited on Wed Jun-01-05 08:38 PM by BerryBush
about how they have found evidence that the Capitol and other Washington buildings were built with slave labor?

Interesting, huh?

Yeah, I often think when people use the Bible to justify their anti-gay stance or their position on women or whatever, "Well, a hundred fifty years ago you'd have been pointing to all the passages that tell people how to treat their slaves, and saying 'See, God and Jesus are in favor of slavery. If they weren't, they wouldn't have put these instructions right in the Bible about how to treat your slaves."

193. Nah, they're too polite to be mean taskmasters. Besides, drinking beer
and building Parliament buildings for non-criminal politicians might be a nice change of pace from living under the blivet**'s sway.

Are Neil Young and Gordon Lightfoot still singing? I heard a recording of Ian and Sylvia yesterday and it brought back memories.

Hard to make Canada look scary, compared to what we live with every day.

Eh? ;)

253. I think you're right, Hope.
The scenario would be like this:

Canadian Invaders: Hail! We have come from the Great White North, to chain you and take you back to our country and make you our slaves!

Americans: What? Are you kidding? Besides, you guys outlawed slavery up there years before we outlawed it down here!

Canadians: Uh...yeah, you're right on that, eh?...Oh well. Come on, guys, let's go back home, eh? We got better beer up there anyway, eh?

255. LOL! Yep, I think that dialog is just about right!
Canadians are a lot less scary - and scared - than US people are. I'm thinking of those Canadian scenes in "Bowling for Columbine." They don't feel the need to lock their doors or fear that someone will shoot them, even though guns are owned by hunters.

We'll have to have a scene with visiting Canadians at Gull Bay...eh?

Yes, a Deep Throat would be very nice just now. No wonder the freepoids are yelling about how the real one acted like a TRAITOR! They know that there are horrible things buried and they want them to STAY that way.

I hope Keith can CONTINUE to do his real reporting. I keep wondering when they will make the move to muzzle him and Jon Stewart.

We're still having fun so it's not too late! Although I will probably have to go in a tad (but then again I'm always saying that, right?)

Hey, how about the very end of the show? Once again "Down with Love" Olbermann gets to put his snark on. Cracked me up when he said the reason the old folks' marriage has lasted 80 years is that one of them is asleep all the time! And that little stat about them having been married the day Gehrig's streak began...er, something tells me that little detail was NOT in the original report, but was added after the fact by a certain writer (who, of course, recognized the date right off the top of his head...)

I could've done without the clips of Tom Cruise though. Come ON...does ANYONE really believe that he's in LUUUURVE with his Katie? :puke:

Come on, Tom. We all know what gives. Come out and be happy.

Only 10 ferrets now but Stormy is here is spirit. Its no harder than 2 or 3 ferrets and easier than one bored ferret. Just more litter boxes to clean. They are pretty good at entertaining themselves and me. Specially when they decide the cats are great toys. I usually have to rescue the cats. They now have out of ferret reach places to get. Truthfully the dogs are the hardest because they don't use litter boxes, need more room and need walked separately so they each feel like they are special. Zaiden get to play fetch instead of a walk because he will and not run away.

It's from a photoshopping contest where people were supposed to set up a scene to show WHY Condi looked so murderously furious in that famous candid photo of her standing by that draped flag and watching something out of range of the camera:

http://voopa.home.comcast.net.nyud.net:8090/condi.jpg

The other Condi photoshopping efforts in that contest were awesome too:

That's exactly how Meera looked! Same facial expression!

PS - Oreo says "Hi." She's watching me post, and looking at the screen. "why do you do that, Mom?"

It's the best pic of Oreo that I have.

Oreo's response: closed eyes, purring, whiskers forward = kitty delight.

face reveals good things too. Thank you for this! One day soon I'll have to figure out how to upload photos from my hard drive so you can see my face too. Makes people more real, I think.

And she has hairy arms like Worf, too! Clearly, she needs more estrogen to balance her mind.

I remember trying to put the little Baskin Robbins baseball caps on Poooter and Neferkiti years ago. Oh, they were having NONE of it. Head coverings are generally beneath a cat's dignity.

Nothing you have is fine the way it is. It must be completely rearranged, preferably knocked off from wherever it is and broken. If not, at least slept upon. That is what your personal possessions are for as a cat owner. *sigh*

220. Nothing wrong with multiple images of beauty, and the timing is so fine
at the end of the day and the end of the KOEB thread.

That's why I said "MY choice for the nature photo of the day." I figured other people would post their own choices. No downside there any way you look at it. I'd love to see more beautiful images.

pic that gets put up at the start of threads sometimes when we need a lift...

Yes, I can read the transcript, but Keith's voice and delivery really add so much, the transcript seems rather flat. He's a good writer, but his presentation adds a dimension.

I'm hoping dzika recorded it. We'll see.

Lots of swordplay! Ewan McGregor looked good even in that beard and doing his best Alec Guinness impersonation. :) Yoda kicked ass, so did R2-D2.

I've really been enjoying the show tonight. That kid from Cornell was cute, if not a bit obsequious. I liked the professor also.

ed: to add --

That Rob Corddry piece on JS last night was hysterical. I'm glad they put it in the round up. "My hooptie."

weekend stopped by - but I couldn't find a place, so I'll just interject it anywhere I please. LOL!

This was the one from Brooklyn. He used to be in the Army and was a Russian translator.

He speaks RUSSIAN!

I felt like Jamie Lee Curtis in a "Fish Called Wanda" (well, not exactly. :7 ) My real name is Russian.
