I tell him..

Dems don't like her. She's too much like Joe Lieberman or Biden..

He replies..

Hillary already has it pretty much wrapped up..I'll be very suprised if she faces anything more than token opposition in 08. She has built up too many political favors in the party

I replied...

You might want to check with real Dems Geo.. She's too status quo corporate pol. She'll
never get nominated.

His final reply was..

Just follow the money..she has set herself up very well for the campaign. She will have at least 10X what any other dem will have going into the process..

So is it already decided? No matter what any of us says. Whoever has the most money will get the nomination? Is that the way it works now?

5. He's a hardcore dyed in the wool neocon..
and I'm sure that's the way he sees it in his own world. Whoever in your party with the most money wins. I don't want to Bash Hillary but I'd like it to come down to who gets the most educated support and not how many commercials they can buy.

They just cannot get that Clinton burr out from under their saddle.

12. I see Hillary running above ground
and Bill clearing the way for her below the radar.

I think the op's friend may have this one right.

To me the secret weapon is Bill. He can torpedo anyone else's campaign, and I think he will if he needs to.

7. You are both wrong....
You:

Your implication that Hillary is a DINO is flat out wrong..

Your implication that those of us who support Hillary are not "real Dems"

Him:

That McCain will be the nominee

11. Correct on both counts - McCain is their Joe Lieberman
Not a chance he'd get the nomination.

8. The right wing wishes Hillry would be the candidate to beat, but they
don't dictate who we want as our front person - personally I believe Feingold would be more effective and have a much better chance of guranteeing us a win for the WH.

It will be a easy enough to rig a few primary outcomes, either directly via the machines, or simply through media manipulation. But I'd be totally amazed if our choices wound up being anyone other than Hillary and McCain. November just isn't that far away, and have you heard of "the media" talking about anyone else? Remember, we can't get coverage of half a million people marching on Washington, so Joe Biden and anyone else who wants to can campaign their little hearts out, but if the "news" is only going to tell America about McCain and Hillary, that's who America is going to have to choose from. Think about it. Both are pro-war machine. Both are essentially the status quo. Which means both are good for helping BushCo and Halliburton in the long run.

My bet is Hillary will get the nod so that they republicans can blame the coming disasters on those damned Clintons again, and attempt to seal their fate among their base. But that political shit is small potatoes to them...they have a massive war machine to keep financed. Either candidate will do.

14. Neither.
Not even worth considering who it will be until late next year. But I think we can all be sure of one thing. It will be *neither* McCain *nor* Hillary.

15. McCain thinks he's in because Bush told him so, wouldn't bank on it
Bush, suckered mCCain to campaign with him in election, with the understanding that; "it's me George not Rudy right?? - Bush stated he didn't trust Giuliani... but Bush will say anything for a con.

16. I don't think a lot of the rank and file Democrats support Hillary
She may have the money but unless she get the Republicans to rig the election for her, I just don't see it. She has followed the popular opinion and not what is always the right thing to do. Thus, she looks weak to both sides.

17. It's going to be Schweitzer vs. Allen
if i had to lay money on it. :)

A race which the Dems can conveniently and truthfully frame as the Real Cowboy vs. The Fake One.
