Why is Sandra Day O'Connor being held up as an "ideal" Justice? |
|
The best that can be said about her is that she's not a fascist like Scalia, Thomas, and would-be justice Alito. But let's not forget that she was the fifth vote that appointed George W. Bush to his throne back in 2000.
There was a time when Sandra Day O'Connor would have been considered a right-wing justice. And there is nothing wrong with that. However, the playing field has been moved so far to the lunatic right that she is now considered to be the court's "moderate." That's a measure of how far we've moved from true democratic values. And it also demonstrates that words no longer have meaning.
Google Sandra Day O'Connor rulings and scan some of her decisions. She's not a moderate, she's a conservative. To repeat, she's no wingnut, but let's not turn her into a saint with a passion for the Bill of Rights.

are one an all caught up in the MSM bullshit that since this placement on SCOTUS it is a "replacement" for O'Connor rather than a decent PLACEMENT FOR LIFE of a SCOTUS judge.

6. Yep, 2000. That was the problem. |
|
She tarnished her reputation for as long as history exists.
Is that hyperbole?
Hmmm...

5. It's key that dems draw differences between her and Alito... |
|
because the republicans are certain focusing on the parellels trying to make him look more moderate than he really is.
It's all a game. That's half of politics.
