How Do You Think Natalie Maines Would Do On Bill Maher's Show Now?
I saw her on Maher's old Politically Incorrect show, and I thought she sounded like an idiot.

They were talking about the War On Drugs. She said that she was against legalizing marijuana because... marijuana is against the law. I'm SERIES!

However, I think the lady has undergone great personal growth these past years, and I expect that she would do quite well.

I like the part in the Dixie Chicks song "Not Ready To Make Nice," where she sings "It turned my whole world around... And I kind of like it."

1. I think she would be great
As you stated she has grown since then. Plus Bush has gotten worse since then. I bet a lot of people who criticized her for speaking out about Bush are agreeing with her now.

3. minor quibble
I think you mean that the perception of Bush has gotten worse. He's been an evildoer his whole life.

8. You're right
He has been an evildoer his whole life.

It just seems like the longer he is in office the less he tries to hide it.

10. And you're right too!
(And by that, I mean opposite of "wrong.")

2. I wonder if her original comments
attracted the attention of the old outlaws who saw fit to educate her on the subject a little. I can see ol' Willie taking the time to show her the error of her ways.

:D

4. nice work if you can get it :)
I wonder in this day and age how Willie keeps from getting busted.

Willie always carries weed with him and the feds know it. I guess there are concerns about backlash?

5. I don't know what it is...
But he guest starred on Monk some time back. They had Monk enter his trailer and sniff, and start to say something about it. Willie deflected it and the story continued.

I laughed my ass off.

Like Tommy Chong on Leno regarding his prison time and the original bust. Leno asked him if he had any pot in the house and Chong looked at him as if he were nuts. He said "Of course. I'm Tommy Chong."

LOL

All the propaganda in the world can't seem to defeat the inevitable. People are beginning to accept pot in a way that makes the tyrants crazy.

6. She sounded like an idiot because she didn't want to legalize it?
Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 04:08 AM by Yollam
I personally favor legalization, as does Maher, but I don't think that people who want to keep it illegal are stupid, even if their reasoning is a bit flimsy.

Hell, I live in Japan now, where marijuana is REALLY illegal. You do NOT want to get caught with a joint here. Everybody here has been brainwashed to think that marijuana is as addictive as crack and that it makes you see terrifying hallucinations. The sad thing is, because of their super-strict drug policies, dumb kids that would otherwise be smoking harmless grass are instead inhaling paint thinner and other horrible chemicals. But the Japanese government shows no signs of budging on this in the next couple centuries.

Some laws are crazy here. Pornographers have to blur out genitalia, but showing graphic ejaculation, defecation, urination on faces, etc. - any number of unbelievable other things is okay. :wtf:

Or maybe I wasn't clear.

She said that the reason she's against legalization is that pot is illegal.

12. No, people who want to keep it illegal are ignorant...
They're ignorant of the racial bias and economic pressures that made it illegal in the first place. They're ignorant of the terrible toll it's taking on our law enforcement resources. They're ignorant of the harm their war is doing on society.

But the OP said Natalie said was that she thought it shouldn't be legalized because it was illegal. Circular logic.
