2. The RW has had its knives out for Boxer for a long time
I remember being very surprised by my garage mechanic's real hatred for Boxer. He doesn't really follow politics, but he watches Fox and thinks he's getting the real story. Fox has been beating up on Boxer for some time now.

That's why we'll need a very new face on the Dem ticket in 08 IMHO. I'm good with Clark, who has probably won over some Fox viewers (my garage mechanic likes him). As for a veep candidate, get a western governor who is popular and has done well. No more NE liberals on the ticket. Too vulnerable to all the bs Fox shovels every day.

Remember, nobody had heard of Bill Clinton when he appeared on the scene (altho he was vulnerable because of his sex life).

Well, that's my 2 cents...

5. Just because FAUX has convinced the freepers
that someone is bad is no reason not to run that person if they are the best person for the job. FAUX is going to villify any DEM candidate. What else is new?

29. I'm not sure this guy is a freeper
If I thought he were, I would certainly agree with you. But there are lots of folks out there watching Fox and not realizing they're getting propaganda. I'm really talking about people who aren't hard line repubs and may vote our way. Fox has smeared BB with them!

because FAUX news told them to is a freeper.

38. I guess it's really semantics.
The problem with labeling this guy a freeper is that in the same breath he says he likes Wes Clark and thinks Clark has some very good ideas. A real freeper wouldn't say that.

No, I put my mechanic in the general category of swing voters who are being shoveled a lot of crap and don't have the critical thinking abilities to discern the truth about BB. He hears Wes Clark make his case in his (Clark's) own words and approves. BB has been framed on Fox. This guy just hasn't caught on to it.

9. It's great hearing Barbara in a prolonged conversation
I'm listening now so this will be short, got my transcript open too. Boxer was my Congresswoman when I lived in San Francisco. I love that woman. Clark gave her a really nice intro:

"And what a senator she's proved to be. Before that she had 5 terms in the US House of Representatives and since joining Congress she's been one of the most powerful progressive voices. She's fought for women's rights; she's fighting for the environment, for education and homeland security among many other issues."

11. Sad to hear them talk about how inept Bush is on back door diplomacy
I hope Boxer increasingly becomes a leading voice for our Party, on National Security, on the environment, on a broad range of issues. This is not a one dimensional Senator.

23. You said a mouthful.
That back door diplomacy is what it all is really about it. Even Iran's nuke threats are a form of back door diplomacy to get what they want in Iran. If the Bush isn't good at this (if .. who am i kidding its not if), then we are in the crapper.

16. The main reason why I like Wes is that he's a non senator.
If the last election cycle showed us anything it's that a senator's vote is an easy target for the repukes to distort and pick apart. Clark doesn't have that handicap. Which is why he would destroy Mccain in a heartbeat.

19. The repukes have nothing on clark.
He's a solid progressive, was never for the iraq war, and would even give Rudy G a run for the money. Clarks my man at this point however I would vote for any Dem who gets the nominee because I dont want the republicans picking any more supreme court justices.

24. Yeah, but
Just because they have nothing never means they won't swiftboat. They will, they already have and still do. They will try to screw whoever wins the nom and Clark would be no exception. We just can't let them get away with it. That's our job.

31. Agreed. The Swift Boaters had nothing, and ran with it.
If they don't have anything, they make it up. Or find someone carrying a grudge for one reason or another.

And use them to attack.

Anyone who has been in a position of power is bound to have detractors.

However, it should be harder to attack Wes on foreign policy etc.

And by 2008 we will be practiced at the response to the swift boat like lies.

21. We need to get rid of Arnie in 2006 first!...
... so that we can clear the way for Barbara to be a running mate in 2008 and allow a Dem to be selected as her replacement if she should go on to be VP... Otherwise, losing her in the Senate might be too costly!

20. two SMART people... the kind of leaders we deserve
They make me proud to be a member of the reality-based community. Reading their words about the environment, about national security, about things most of us would never even think about like the benefits of keeping Army generals and colonels in a community for more than a couple of years... it reminded me of how things are supposed to work--how leaders are supposed to look at the big picture and consider all the data instead of engaging in wishful thinking and lobbyist-directed decisionmaking.

These are REAL LEADERS who are working for the country, not for their own benefit or for their friends'. They give me so much hope for how our nation will recover when this corrupt group is gone.

Edited on Mon Apr-24-06 12:00 PM by Pithy Cherub
has an event in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills tomorrow night. The presidential blivet is speaking about immigration in the OC right now.

Clark would put classy leadership back in the White House and Barbara boxer is very poopular here. Just love them and what they represent in standing firm and tall for principle, especially when it is not popular or the conventional wisdom, but is right and good for America. :loveya:

36. The transcript is good; the podcast is better
Today was crazy-making without a second available to listen to this. It was worth the wait. Just when you think the corporations have taken over, you get to voices challenging the whole thing. Yes, it will take some doing to undo the undoing, but both Clark and Boxer were talking about what needed to be done, not who needed the bank account lined. Clark's background in physics shows when he states that he's been studying the oceans, and Boxers active mind put what matters first...first. This is our only planet.

I really needed to hear people making sense. Thx.
