What is with Keith Hernandez and that "Baseball is a man's game" stuff?
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/mariners/2002949590_nlbeat24.html

I heard Mike and Mike In The Morning talking about it this morning. Sounds like Keith put his foot in his mouth big-time.

I never knew how many misogynists there were in this world. I was oblivious to it all until probably the last 4 years, even then mainly in the last year I have been noticing it. Nothing surprises me anymore. I think Rick Santorum cured me of any surprise I may have over men saying nutball stuff about women.

1. Keith got his nuts in a twist when he saw a woman in the dugout.
It turned out she is the massage therapist for the team, and had a very good reason for being there: SHE WAS DOING HER JOB!

3. I know, it blew me away when I heard that
at first I thought Mike and Mike were talking about some woman who just was in the dugout, but she was a trainer... I mean how stupid was he to say that?

12. He was out of line, and that said, technically he was right
but not for the reasons he claimed.

Baseball rules allow only the trainer and assistant trainer in the dugout. Not the massage therapist, male or female. But given she COULD have been the trainer, it's a moot point. He's a misogynist but he's a good announcer as well.

7. LOL
Hernandez still has the same bad haircut that he had in that Seinfeld episode.

5. Baseball is one of those sports that is equally enjoyed by women
what an assinine thing to say. Has he ever looked around a ballpark? Almost half of the attendees are women.

6. I heard him apologize during yesterday's game.
I was wondering what he had said, and read up about it today.

Even though he apologized, it was kind of half-hearted. After he apologized for "offending some people", he then went into a dissertation about how many persons are allowed on the bench during a game.

Not only are many of our "professional" sportsmen misogynistic, they are homophobic as well. Many closeted sports figures are afraid to come out for fear of being "taken out".

8. Yes---an out-of-shape, steroid-abusing, chaw-packing MAN!
Seriously, if Babe Ruth could be a pro....
Not exactly the same physical specimens as NBA players.

10. Who do you think is buying all the Derek Jeter posters?
;)

Seriously though, I am trying to remember if I have ever seen a woman in a baseball dugout. I really don't remember seeing that before. He expressed himself the wrong way.

When he played for the Indians, briefly, he was always hurt and demanded special treatment....

They cut him and ate his contract....

What a fuckin' whoose.....

13. Hernandez is a first class ass
busted in the cocaine scandal in MLB in the early 80's and known as a obnoxious git.

I'll always remember him signing w/ the Thribe in the early 90's for a 2 year contract for 3 million, then suddenly getting a "hamstring" injury that was the longest rehab in history, 2 years. It didn't stop him from partying in Clevo and New York during that time....

This doesn't surprise me..
