Where the Hell are the New Postage Stamps????
Okay - so the postal rates have increased by 2 cents so where the hell are the new stamps. In my hometown of Yuma AZ there are no 39 cent stamps, no 1 cent or 2 cents stamps.Anyone else having problems???

I've got bills to pay. Is the Bush admin in cohoots with the credit card companies on this one???

19. NY Daily News link mentions shortages in NYC:

2¢ stamps hard to come buy

BY BILL EGBERT
DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER

They wait to buy 2-cent stamps as postage rose to 39 cents.

Getting your two cents worth was an ordeal on the last day before postal rates went up.
The price of a first-class stamp rises to 39 cents from 37 cents today - but all the vending machines at Manhattan's main post office were out of 2-cent add-ons yesterday.

That left New Yorkers waiting for up to 90 minutes to buy the stamps at the window, because they were being sold only at one window.

"This is absolutely ridiculous. I've been here 25 minutes already," Manhattan architect LeAnn Shelton grumbled as she pulled out a bundle of 37 cent-stamped envelopes.

"I have 150 envelopes here," she said. "It'll only cost me $3, but it's going to take me an hour and a half just to get them. It's just dumb."

(snip)

of course, everything in new york is a big deal.

15. I was able to buy only 40 -- 2 cent stamps with Navaho jewelry at
a local supermarket field postal facility in Tigard, Oregon.

I was unaware of any shortages of stamps before the original post.

29. I can't imagine stamps being deemed invalid after you purchase them
I think perhaps the postal worker meant, "don't buy tons, cause you'll be stuck with them once you're out of 37 cent stamps." You'll still be able to use them, but who wants to lick 20 2-cent stamps to mail a letter?

The post office destroyed lots of my ebay shipments and then shirked on their insurance. You hafta get notarized statements of the worth and then proof of the contents etc. Its impossible.

I only insure stuff to make sure the person on the other end signs (so they can't say my shipment didn't arrive). So it's insurance of a sort after all.

45. This happens every time there is a rate increase
Every Post Office is out of the small (in this case, 2 cent) stamp that is needed for people to use the stamps they have on hand, in addition to also being out of the stamps that have the latest price on them.. Been that way for the past 2 or 3 price increases.
