The most important thing I have gotten from a DU thread.
(This link came from a thread i read about scientists worried about * using a nuke.)

Many years ago scientists from the US and refugees from Hitler's Europe urged Einstein to send
a letter to F.D.R. urging him to be aware of Germany's program that was geared to the construction
of a nuclear bomb. A group of some the greatest minds in physics, medicine, and science have now
written a letter to President Bush trying to make him aware of the "nuclear genie" he would be unleashing
if he attacks Iran with a nuclear weapon. This letter is history.

Give it some pub please .... their words must be heard. Not that they would affect "W" but they would
affect those who read or hear them. This madness must be stopped.

1. this will give one pause....
"Over 100,000 human beings died in the Hiroshima blast, and nuclear weapons in today's arsenals have a total yield of over 200,000 Hiroshima bombs."

2. A copy of that letter by Einstein sat on FDR's desk for two years.
A copy of it now exists in the Albuquerque Atomic museum.

3. He doesn't believe in science
Remember, global warming does not exist for him so the "nu-cu-lar genie" would probably be dismissed too.

7. The problem is......Bush listens to God, not scientists
How many times does he have to tell us that he relies on God to help him make his decisions, before the public will start to wake up? (of course, that's assuming most people will find this alarming). Remember what Bob Woodward wrote about him, "I listen to a higher father".

8. Why aren't religious leaders making letters like this?
Leaders saying "God does not want you to use Nuclear weapons. Trust me, I'm the Pope." Or Falwell, or any one of those evangelical nut jobs?

10. He'll just say it would be a sign of weakness.
They don't think they can "win" with conventional weapons, so they need the Nuclear option. Bullies don't give up their edge, and that's exactly what BushCo is, a bunch of bullies, and the bomb is their only edge.

This isn't really new. Remember, Reagan had his people calculating what the survival rate for Global Thermonuclear War would be, whether or not 15-30% of the US could "survive" GTW and retain our "culture."

The end justifies the means, whether that end is American Hegemony per PNAC, or bringing on the Rapture. Either way, this admin is dangerous to the entire world.

11. Be Afraid, be Very Afraid...
...in case you missed this great diary on KoS:

Yesterday, a group of 12 eminent physicists sent an open letter to President Bush warning him of the dangers of using nuclear weapons in Iran. This is a very bad sign. How bad? Well, consider what has happened after some of the other warnings Our Fearless Leader has received . . .

On August 29, 2005, the National Weather Service issued this advisory about a hurricane that was approaching the Gulf Coast:

...

In June 2002, Cecil Roberts, president of the United Mine Workers Association, implored the President,

...

Two months before the war in Iraq began, the CIA's National Intelligence Council completed a study in which it predicted that a war in Iraq could result in the development of a violent insurgency that would divide the country.

...and he goes on and on...
