Poll question: Is Tony Snow becoming WH Press Secretary a good thing? By reinforcing |
|
the status of FOX news as a propaganda organ of the shrub? Making it a little harder for the blinded "true believers" who would deny the important role of FOX news in service to the Republicans and specifically shrubco, to not see what is in front of their face?

why should this be different?

2. Thanks for the leading poll question |
|
heh heh... but never underestimate the FOX viewer's selective blindness. Besides, they just don't care about ethical matters in the same way we do. It won't make a difference.

Tony was a speech writer for the disastrous Bush 41.

4. Very few people watch FAUX "News" |
|
and even fewer know/care to know the identity of the WH Press Secretary. I think it doesn't matter at all to "America," only to those of us on either side of the aisle who are predisposed to care about such things already.

what can I say?!
Actually, I think it will make a difference--at least at first--because he is used to the WH and probably knows some of the reporters so he can schmooze them, which Puffy McMoonface was seemingly unable to do. But I think it will be very short-lived (like maybe 2 weeks) and it will end when the next inevitable, inexorable scandal arises.

17. I didn't realize we were talking comparative data, but your link |
|
indicates also,
"FNC still has more demo viewers than CNN, though (443k vs. 304k in April)."
A sad state of affairs, and I'm glad to see Faux's viewership is declining, but underestimating its popularity (which I'm not sure YOU did) is unrealistic and unproductive.

19. But out of 300 million people.... |
|
1.5 or 2 million people is a very small number. There will be a few die-hards (like the 32% who still think the chimp is doing a fine job) who watch FOX and won't be swayed by anything.

20. I think I get what you're saying...you're talking about the public |
|
in general, not cable news followers, right? I guess I tend to automatically think that everyone else is a news junkie like me. Heh.
In that case, I would agree with your statement that "very few" people watch Faux. I guess that's good news, and thanks for reminding me. I wish everyone would follow news more closely, but maybe it's actually better that a lot of people DON'T watch the 24-hour "news" networks. That's where most of the fake news happens, after all.

It'll be interesting to see if a viewer backlash hits Fox at a similar ratio to Buxh's approval rating.

I voted other because I think he will do much harm to bushco. He's a bigot and not that smart about it. The press will have him in a straight jacket in short order. Imagine him matching wits with Helen Thomas!

who tries to polish this steaming turd of Presidential "successes"?
I'd say the "new" WH media strategy is obvious and epitomized in this move. They/re going to let the major mainstream media go, treat it nicely but let it write some stuff really critical of them- and propagandize the mainstream media as "liberal" and "liberal hijacked" media via Fox News and the rest.
They don't need the center for the midterm elections, so they feel they can afford to let them go (for at time). But they're retrenching themselves among Republicans- Snow has cred there where McClellan no longer did. I think they're counting on Snow not having a particularly long life in the WH either- maybe a year, enough time to get them past the elections.

8. Either that, or it gives FOX credibility as the "spokesnetwork" |
|
for the US government.
I don't like it. No one who watches FOX gives a crap about impartiality, and for many swing voters it will actually elevate FOX's status.

10. Mark my words: Tony Snow is a polished professional liar. He |
|
knows that he is a liar, and he does not care one whit that he is a liar, because it brings him wealth and fame. Republicans are in general, ignorant, gullible, and highly susceptible to bullshit propaganda.
They rarely see what is in front of their face unless they see that their wallet is lighter.
Snow as Press Secretary is a security threat to the US.

I guess the Bushbots and W are his family. How sad, after cancer, that he would declare his allegiance to the Bushbots rather than his family. But the Bushbots are that way. We'll see if the rumor is true.

You are right, it will piss off CNN and MSNBC. Blitzer seems on the verge of revolt these days, anyway, beginning to show signs of straying off the GOP reservation. It'll be interesting to see if it has an effect.

will be made aware that this admin is the essence of contemporaneous fascism; forget all the goose-stepping swastikas, they were just worn by the last madman to carry the banner, imo its always been about oligarchic/corporate globalization, and with Snow as the bfee mouthpiece it will not be possible to separate the cheney/bush/nixon/rove/matalin admin from what it really is. the question is:
who will be caught sitting on their hands?
