stupid, disgusting, sincere, morbid question inspired by Tony Snow |
|
I read that he had his colon removed not too long ago because of cancer.
Doesn't that mean he has to use a colostomy bag?
I hope I, or any of you, will never go through such a thing. This is not a joke or snark post. I'm just kind of ignorant about this, and morbidly curious.

1. Snow might not need a bag & not just because he already IS one |
|
one only needs a bag if the anus is removed, necessitating a new exit. Looking at Snow, I would guess the asshole is still intact.
But you never know. It's quite discreet.

8. That's not quite true.. |
|
My grandmother had colon cancer, They did surgery, cut out the cancerous section (IIRC it was about 6 ft) and hooked her up to a colostomy for almost a year. They finally did a resection (I guess after they were sure they got all the cancer) and she was able to use the bathroom again normally for the rest of her life.

7. Not all colon surgery requires a bag. I had part of mine |
|
removed (noncancerous)and do not have one. I thought that he looked very different than I remember seeing him some years ago. That explains it.
Colon cancer is so dangerous because it can spread to other organs quickly and may not actually harm the colon very much. My friend died a year and a half ago because hers had spread to her liver.
For all those reading this, if you're 50 or older, get a colonoscopy to save your life possibly from this dreaded disease. My father died of it also in '60.
