If you were an Iranian citizen would you want your country to have nukes?

After watching the USA liberate Afghanistan to the east and Iraq to the west would you want your country to possess the only type of weapon that could prevent your country from also being invaded and occupied in the same way? (Think Shock And Awe.)

Or would you not worry that the USA with Bush talking about axis of evils, military options and regime changes in Iran won't also some day come and invade and occupy you too? And steal your countries gas and oil to pay to rebuild your country after the USA blows it all to hell?

What would sound like the most sensible approach to this if you were an average citizen living in Iran right now?

I would be too concerned he might use these nukes to bring about "the end times". And any retaliatory strike would be sure to kill me and my family.

Are you happy Bush has access to nukes? The USA can get away with so much because of them.

Be better if no one had nukes but thats not the case. Is it? He does have them. And If I were an Iranian I would want my country to have them too with Bush's recent track record. That is the point I was trying to make.

If I were Iranian I'd seriously consider the benefits of nukes as a deterrent against other hostile nations. However, the issue of Ahmadinejad's state of mind is one that causes me concern. From all his rhetoric, it seems to me his plans would involve the use of nukes for offensive purposes as well as deterrence. And for this reason alone, were I an Iranian, I would not support a nuclear weapons program.

3. Yeah - but there's a difference between trying to get the bomb

and actually getting the bomb. Trying to get the bomb is just going to enflame passions with the West, and make it more likely that they will invade.

On the other hand, it's not like Saddam could appease the west.

What if it was Iran telling us what we could and could not do?

What if Iran had invaded and deposed the Canadian government and still had thousands of troops there supporting a puppet regime?

What if Iran had invaded and now occupies Mexico with over 150,000 troops?

What if Iranian ships flew up and down the eastern seaboard often intimidating American civilian shipping concerns?

What if America didn't have nukes, but Iran did...enough to wipe America out at the press of a button?

What if Iran told us we couldn't develop nukes, and then threatened to use nukes to stop us?

How would you feel then?

So, if I was a citizen of Iran, I wouldn't want my country to have nukes because I'd think my leader was a warmongering idiot who was going to get me killed.
