Frist tells Americans - Get a tune up and drive slower!

Honest to god, heard that on Imus this morning. Bill Frist just doesn't get it.

1. A tuneup ought to solve that darned ol' energy crisis in a snap.
Why didn't we think of that earlier?

7. Who can afford it...
In some cases, it's either a tune-up or gas...

10. You're right. I don't think the economy has that long-term robust feel
when people can't even afford to fill up their tanks.

Bush, already strapped with incredible difficulties he's not qualified to address, is looking at a precarious economy as the year goes on.

2. both are good ways to save gas...
also check your tire pressure. under and over inflated tires cause the vehicle to use more gas.

5. That will save Joe Average 6$ a month...

..the point is, these are trivial pieces of advice in the midst of growing gas prices.

8. Good advice
but most of us already knew that. And returning home from a weekly breakfast date with my dad this morning, a BMW was right on my ass for a while. I was doing the speed limit, he wanted to exceed it and did so when given the chance. I bet he was a republican. Frist, practice what you preach. He probably drives 80 or 90 when given a chance. And he probably drives some type of monster truck.

22. you make a very good point
In the future I will not post my dislike for shock jocks in pro shock jock OP threads.

I've never met a Bob Dylan fan that liked Imus. I find that very interesting.

Anyway, I am sorry for my anti Howard Stern / anti Imus posts. I will edit them if I still have time.

Peace and low stress.

15. By the end of the summer, used SUVs will be going for $1,000
Once people figure out gas prices ain't coming down again, they'll be doing a lot more than getting a tuneup.

I don't like Frist, but that has some merit. That is the first words of conservation I have heard come from Republicans. Most Republicans follow Cheney's lead when he said that the American way of life is not negotiable. I thought Frist would have encouraged more people to buy SUV's.

Frist should have also said to check your tire pressure. There isn't one answer to Peak Oil and high gas prices, but all solutions start with conservation.

23. As far as it goes, he's right.
Tune up and dropping it down to 55 will increase your gas mileage. It's good advice but certainly not a solution to the underlying problem.

These common sense approaches are not solutions to our problem. They only delay the inevitable. What a moron.
