The only thing that will boost Bush popularity is another 9-11 |
|
I think it is only a matter of time before another major attack on US soil is unleashed.
The pattern of Al Queda has been an attack followed by a long dormant state, and a repeat of the last tactics many years latter. This time a attack would help the Bush administration cary out another war, maybe on Iran, and implement harsher attacks on our freedoms in the name of fighting terrorist. The public will rally to the President, and noone in the media will point out the failure of the administration to stop another attack. Similiarly the Democrats in congress will fail to hang the latest failures on the administration too, and even be unwilling to question another war.
I see history repeating itself.

1. That would be tricky for Bush |
|
since he is always stating that he is fighting them there so we dont have to fight them here kind of crap. It would difficult for them to orchestrate another 9/11 like they did the first time.

5. Another 9/11 would totally repudiate all Bush's claims. |
|
If he sets up another one, it will send his poll numbers to zero, immediately.

6. I think over 50% of the people would now see this as a Failure |
|
To keep us safe which would blow up in his face. The ONLY thing he's had to use for a couple years now is the "But I'm keeping you safe" crap...getting hit again would pretty much kick the last leg out from under that stool.

.another terrorist attack, by saying that the Dems and the media did not let them implement the laws to stop terrorists attacks.

|
that is willing to die for a cause, no matter how crazy they may be.
all this homeland defense and spending is meaningless and can not stop any terrorists.

14. big daddy is supposed to protect us. |
|
they skipped responsibility for 9/11 somehow and cashed in instead.
all of their promises of protection and competence fly out the window if there is another attack, there wont be anyone else to blame.

An attack on us right now will only serve to hurt Bush. He has to show something/anything he's done right. Another attack will make him look that much more incompetent. He's past the stage where he can put the blame on anyone else or excuse himself by pleading ignorance. The only thing that might help him is to produce the dead corpse of Osama bin Laden.

19. I'm not so sure--he has made such a big deal out of |
|
how another 9/11 hasn't happened since that if one did happen alot of questions would arise as to why the governement didn't detect it.

21. Only a very transient boost. |
|
After all, Bush has basically told people that he has magic powers to keep Terrarists Away. Once these still-believers realize the magic powers don't exist, the other ones he has don't impress them much.
