Sources Say Tony Snow Likely To Take Press Secretary Post

Julie Farby - All Headline News Staff Writer

Washington, D.C. (AHN)—Sources close to the White House say that Fox anchor Tony Snow is likely to succeed Scott McClellan as White House press secretary.

According to the CNN report, a source familiar with the discussions says that newly appointed Chief of Staff Josh Bolten asked Snow to make a decision by early this week.

Sources say Snow’s decision will be based on his family, finances and his health, as he battles colon cancer.

According to the report, Snow joined Fox News Channel as a political analyst in 1996, and has worked as an editorial writer at The Virginian-Pilot; editorial page editor of The Daily Press in Newport News, Virginia; deputy editorial page editor of The Detroit News; and editorial page editor of The Washington Times.

Snow, also a conservative radio talk show host, and speech writer for President Bush's father in 1991, was born in 1955.

2. I heard that he had surgery to remove his colon
and was pretty much given a clean bill of health. The only question was if his doctor thought the stress of the job would jeopardize his recovery -- ??

item that afflicts the Freepers.

This means he has to collect his own defecation in a bag via a colonostomy, isn't that correct?

He's also supposed to have a "good sense of humor." Geez, with a condition like that, I guess you HAVE to laugh...

5. Interesting that they bring out this information now
Has this been mentioned before on Fox? Or was this presented now for information (like that he might not be working as PS long) or merely to garner sympathy?

6. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy
My grandfather died of it, and it runs in my family.

I have to get a colonoscopy every 3 years.

I don't wish this on anyone.

My grandfather had to live with a colostomy bag for the last 26 years of his life, bless his heart. My mom had a big chunk of her colon removed but is now OK.

15. My Mom had it too
had part of her colon removed. It had already spread into her lymph nodes and had spread to her lungs. She didn't live much longer after that, she died after getting a massive infection.

19. Sorry to hear this, OVCO. Husband came through his colon test
last week. Everything's good with both of us.

Guess we're lucky. Something will get us, but not in the end... (GET IT?)

Ex-husband started chemotherapy yesterday. He is in pain -- it's terminal, but I guess they're trying to do "something." My daughter speaks with him frequently.

Here's a photo of the two of them together in Vermont. I loved this guy for 11 years and produced two great kids with him.

22. Thank you Radio Lady,
It's good to hear you and hubby are doing well.

It's always wise to keep up on the testing. My Mom had let her testing lapse after my sister died and unfortunately her cancer was too advanced to do much. I need to schedule another colonoscopy myself..it'll soon be 5 yrs since my last one.

I'm sorry to hear about your Ex-husband. I hope they can help him. He'll be in my prayers.

Your daughter's beautiful. She looks alot like your pic.

Snow Weighing White House Spokesman Job

If conservative pundit Tony Snow gets the okay from his doctors, he may become President Bush's third press secretary — and a rare outsider in an insular administration

By MIKE ALLEN/WASHINGTON

Posted Tuesday, Apr. 25, 2006

Tony Snow, the conservative commentator and Fox News host, is awaiting a follow-up report from his oncologist before deciding whether to accept an offer to become President Bush’s third White House Press Secretary, succeeding Scott McClellan, an official close to Snow told TIME Tuesday morning.

Snow, 50, had his colon removed when he was diagnosed with cancer last year. One of his doctors initially approved him to take the grueling job, joking that the post wouldn’t give him cancer, although it might give him heartburn, according to the official. But now Snow is awaiting "a clean bill of health," the official said.

Dear Listeners,

I wanted to thank each and every one of you for your help and support during my cancer surgery and convalescence. You have been absolutely great. I have received letters, books, CDs, DVDs, religious items, food baskets, handmade goodies and much more from people who have become acquainted with me solely through "The Tony Snow Show."

The good news is I’m feeling great. I mean, really great — so great that I’m ready to go back on the air full-time. I’ll take back the microphone on the 25th and can’t wait. The good thing about taking time off is that you get plenty of chances to think, and I’ve devoted a great deal of thought to building upon the successes of this past year.

We have over 100 stations carrying the show around the country, but you can always catch the streaming of my show on my website every weekday LIVE 9A-12N ET. Again, I’m back and ready to go, and none of it would have been possible without your incredible help and support.

Best,

Tony Snow

But, he works for Faux News - nothing BUT lies, so he's got to be used to it by now.

16. Randi Rhodes mentioned it yesterday
She said he had already had his colon removed. From the way she said it, it seemed to me that it had happened awhile ago.

I actually feel sorry for the guy. I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, especially colon cancer, I've known too many that have died from it.

23. So they've got a press sec that we can't claim is
full of SHIT?

I only say this because my family has a history of colon cancer, my dad had 12 feet of colon removed, lived a long time after that, something else got him, and my sister had a growth near the rectum, man did that hurt, all the treatments.. she said she went to Hawaii after a lot of the treatmen was over and when she stuck her ass in the water of the ocean it went "SSSSSSSssssssstttttttt..."

Poor thing.. I've had the colonscopy about three times now and it's no picnic, I keep WAKING UP in the table and screaming at them, "KNOCK ME OUT, KNOCK ME OUT" until they finally do.. I have a super liver that dispatches pain meds in quick fashion, so I'm wide awake by the time they pull the needle out :)

Plus they REFUSE to wear the space alien masks :) had one doctor wearing a Star Trek pin on her doc coat so I told her that she was going, "To a place no Man had gone Before.." she loved it..

The last time they rolled me into a Bay to do it and there were all these things abound me that looked like a gas station workshop.. I looked at the nurse and said, "Oh.. Jiffy Lube!" It just came out, she laughed her ass off, and I begged her not to tell the doctor what I'd just blurted out :)

FUCK Snowman, cancer or not he's not aiding US in the fight against the CANCER that is Bush..
