2. ya know -- i don't know. |

i think they should -- i've signed the petitions, donated to naral, etc just for this issue.
and i don't know.
anyway -- i just want to say that alito is very important in this battle -- he's not the war but an important battle. and i think frist knows this as well.

3. Point is there is absolutely no reason |
|
not to filibuster.
1. They may keep him off the court.
2. They draw enormous attention to all his supportive Bush corruption and almost certainly overturing Roe.
3. If republicans use nuclear option, they will be branded as not following the will of the congress--unprecedented changing of rules.
4. Makes huge election issue.
5. Nuclear option is then in place for the Democrats as well when they return to majority.
Either we win, or we win. Why they wouldn't filibuster is mindboggling to me.

5. Because that's a Given...and it's in the poll if you read it carefully...I |
|
didn't think I needed to parse it out to add: "On Party-Line Vote" because that's a "given." :eyes:

6. If it's a given and in the poll, then I don't understand your last option. |

8. It means no fillibuster because Alito answered the questions well enough |

that Dems realize that to fillibuster is a futile exercise. Meaning he WINS with a Narrow Repug Majority. There's no difference in what you say and my post unless you want to parse the language.
If Dems sniffing says that there aren't enough Repug Crossovers...and there are Dem defectors to the Repugs then they won't bother with the Fillibuster for fear of losing to "Frist's Nuke Option." They will hold their power of fillibuster for when Bush maybe pushes something even MORE agreggious down the road. And Bush definitely has more in store for us. Dems are hanging on a thread to preserve the fillibuster. So, they won't waste it if Alito will go through even on the slimmest of margins.

9. Alito will be confirmed but take heart |
|
this will be the last Bush victory, all down hill from here. The plan is simple, take back the House in 06 and then impeach.

10. No filibuster. They'll save it for something "important". |
|
Just like they've been doing ever since the glorious "compromise" that gave us those 3 fascist judges and Roberts.
