TOONSDAY -- A few tasty morsels to hold you over til Thursday

AND SINCE I HAVE YOUR ATTENTION -- HOW ABOUT LOOKING AT SOMETHING THAT IS "NOT" FUNNY
BUT IT *IS* IMPORTANT

Here's the email I received from his campaign office. I contributed. How about you?

Dear Friend,

The day after the election in 2004, we stood together and demanded a full recount of the 2004 presidential vote in Ohio. Like you, I believe that our right to vote is meaningless if our votes are not properly counted. That's why I went to Ohio as lead counsel and fought in the federal courts for the recount to take place.

I am now running for Secretary of State of Massachusetts and I need your help.

This nation needs a Secretary of State who will stand up to those who dare to trample on the right to vote. I am ready to be that Secretary of State. A Secretary of State who will work to build a powerful coalition of other secretaries of state ready to protect the integrity of our electoral process. A Secretary of State who will lead.

PROTECTING OUR RIGHT TO VOTE
I am concerned about the state of our democracy - in Massachusetts and across the nation. That is why I am ready to apply my years of experience as a voting rights leader by running for Secretary of State of Massachusetts. As Secretary of State, I will be a pro-active leader for Massachusetts and for the nation. I will stand up and fight to protect our right to vote, to preserve our democracy, and to create a model for free and fair elections for the country. And I ask for your support.

STANDING FOR OUR DEMOCRACY
As the founder of the National Voting Rights Institute and as a public interest attorney, I have been standing up to fight for our democracy: defending the Massachusetts Clean Elections Law against entrenched power resisting a voter mandate to overhaul our state's campaign finance system; challenging George W. Bush in federal court as he marched us into an illegal war in Iraq; and fighting in Ohio in the wake of widespread reports of voting irregularities.

I NEED YOUR SUPPORT!
This is a grassroots, outsider campaign. It will not be dominated by big money interests. I ask for your support today as we move forward in this crucial phase leading up to the convention. Please contribute today at http://www.johnbonifaz.com/contribute, and please give as generously as you can. Together, we will stand up and fight for our democracy.

Thank you and keep on,

John Bonifaz

P.S. Congressman John Conyers, Jr. recently announced his endorsement of my candidacy. I am proud to receive this endorsement from this extraordinary leader and look forward, as Massachusetts' Secretary of State, to working with him to preserve our democracy.

19. Now this guy is usually conservative,
but this time he gets it. If we could just convert him fully over to our side:
