The GOP media is laying the groundwork against impeachment
It's getting to be pretty obvious...they're trying to warn the Dems and set up the stage for the mythical "backlash" which will occur if Dems try to impeach Bush. Yuppers, if Dems call for impeachment, it will backlash, and voters won't buy it, and they think it's all just revenge for Clinton, so...sooooo...yesiree, the republicans will WIN in 2006 mid-terms!

This is setting up perfectly for them!

Don't you dare try to hold the president accountable, no rule of law for this president! Hold him accountable and America will revolt and re-elect the corrupt GOP! Is anyone buying this shit? Oh...wait...no one has to buy it. Diebold will force it on us one way or another. All BushCo needs is the rationale to explain the miraculous 2006 wins. It'll be because Dems tried to hold Bush accountable to the law.

1. Didn't you get the memo?! You can only be impeached if you
get a blowjob and then lie about it.

2. As less and less of the public gets their news from the networks...
much less the cable propaganda outlets, I think they will be more focused on what they are experiencing first hand--record high deficits, a loss in buying power that has wiped out any financial gains they may have had the past twenty years, record gas prices after Bush*'s lies embarked us on a war that has already gone longer than WWII and which has done anything but made us safer (or provided the oil some thought would be the result).

The people did NOT want Clinton impeached--polls at the time more than confirm that and thus the backlash against the PUGS. COnversely, the people will be (and already are) the ones DEMANDING Bush* impeachment--not unlike the situation with Nixon a few decades ago.

Big big difference....

5. The media lives in the same bubble that the politicians live in
they are both profoundly out of touch with actual citizens and have no clue how it is out here in the real world.

6. Just yesterday Senator Dole released
a talking points memo saying the Democrats are responsible for high gas prices because they voted for the gas tax... They are loading it up folks and our guys better arm themselves and get ready for a fight... It is going to be a bumpy ride.. They are going to play some dirty tricks...

in six weeks . . .

P.S. When was the last time since 2003 that democrats got any legislation enacted complete with presidential signature? What effin' gas tax is Dole yammering about?

21. Europe has gas taxes between $2.00 & $3.00 per gal.
Ours is about 15%, so I heard on tv this a.m. Our oil Co. get a huge tax break. Often wondered why Europe paid so much for gas, that is why they drive econo cars, they were forced into it. We drive gas guzzlers and never give it a thought.

7. If you aim to kill the king, you better succeed
Right now, there are not enough votes for impeachment. Keeping the word in the air is fine, but any concerted effort will fail and take our eye off the ball of incompetence, arrogance, and all those good things. I personally think most people want Bush to be gone, but they'd rather see something done about health care, the war, and so on.

11. I wouldn't have minded President Gore then, but I did mind that the GOPs
were trying to upend an election and the Constitution based on a phony argument that boiled down to a guy lied to cover up that he had a fling.

9. What they are really skeered of
is the takeover of the House and Senate by the Dems. Then cometh the investigations of their committees. With SUBPOENA power!!!

That's gonna scare the piss out of them more than impeachment (altho that might come to pass, please god). Man, I can see it now. All those guys in suits raising their right hands and takin' the oath.

Here's hoping...

24. Think about it, Clinton who is driving this country in the right
direction and the damn repubs demand impeachment for lying about sex. Repubs insisted it was the LIE they were upset with. Now we have a Pres. that hasn't told the truth yet about anything and he gets one heck of a get out of jail free card. Apparently Americans can not stand success, that's the only explaination I can come to. Clinton made it look easy.

14. It's a game of chicken.
The republicans COULD simply insist that Bush follow the law and hold a hearing or two. But instead, they have decided that it's all or nothing. Bush insists on nothing, so they dare the democrats to risk it all.

Of course, democrats can't live with nothing. So what's the issue? YOu are right, of coruse, that if dems lose, we lose democracy entirely and Bush is an elected dictator. But how can the dems win if it's conceded that Bush is beyond all control?

17. When will the reporting stop being "Democrats " vs
"Republicans" like it was a football game? Just how many former self-identified Republicans have to toss this crowd over until they stop reporting it this way?

If the numbers are as low as even Faux is admitting, there are a lot of Republicans who are thinking that impeachment might not be such a bad idea...
