Wow. I think Springsteen did Pete Seeger proud.
The new "We Shall Overcome" album really moves me. This is music for the heart, music that both soothes and inspires.

I'm mightily impressed. The Boss never sounded better and the spirit of the music is there.

Mary don't you weep and Jacobs Ladder makes me cry. Hell can bruce hit number one on the rock country and folk charts with this cd? I think so.

5. Vinyl?
You can get it on vinyl? I know people who have never even seen one of those! And I haven't had a turntable in about 25 years.

10. There's a guy at our half-price bookstore who will listen to little else
He even knows where to go online to get needles for his turntable. I've been told that analog is better than digital still because digital takes out the highs and lows in the music, even if what's left is clearer.

I dunno. I'm happy enough with CDs, but some folks do go out of their way to get vinyl.

7. It's awesome isn't it
I had a little problem loading it into my cd player because it's a dual disk but once i did it's incredible. I love the video sequence on the DVD side. Patti is still hot no? Once again the Boss lives up to his status as a living legend. (And on the country sounding numbers he burried Toby Keith.) I can't wait for June for the concert. Hey Dubya bring them home now. Springsteen in 08

9. Pete thinks so, too . . .
Boss nod a treat for Pete

(snip)

"I'm a very conservative person, and if I was a teacher, I would never hand out an A-plus. So I would give this 31/2 stars . It's a very exciting album," Seeger says. "He does some unusual things. He sings the old spiritual, 'O Mary Don't You Weep' " - Seeger sings a bit over the phone. "But he does it at the top of his lungs, at the top of his range, in minor, not major. I never heard anybody do that.

"Bruce has a wonderful, powerful voice," Seeger says. "I think he made some good choices."

(snip)

"I think that some of the people who originally sang 'We Shall Overcome' would be very proud to hear his recording of that because it's a beautiful, beautiful recording."

- more . . .
