Pentagon: Pullout of 30,000 troops possible "as early as November"
http://abcnews.go.com/US/print?id=1892044

As the top U.S. commander in Iraq suggested today that the United States would soon reduce the number of troops in Iraq, Pentagon planners said to ABC News that they hoped to pull more than 30,000 troops out by the end of the year, and possibly by as early as November.

Why don't they just go ahead and tell us the truth and add what they really mean to the end of that sentence:

"in order to boost GOP chances at the polls for the election."

4. Same thought popped into my head!
Withdraw 30,000 and after the election if Bush/GOP wins, send 50,000 back in!

9. They realeased this bit of news to counter Kerry's withdrawal plan before
more senators sign on to it.

They know the American people are beginning to hear the sense from Democrats and that is the LAST thing the GOP wants right now. By making this bogus tidbit available, they are blowing smoke to cover themselves before an election.

Last time they ran out "troop reduction" talk, it was tied to troop rotations.

17. This administration seeks to out-Nixon Nixon
DUers of a certain age will remember Nixon campaigning on his "secret" plan to end the war in Vietnam. Reporters of any age, naturally, won't remember a thing about this little trial balloon three seconds after the ballot returns are back in November, so these assholes know they don't have a thing to worry about from any backlash they deserve for floating this lie.

20. Timing is everything. Didn't we send in extra troops for the elections?
I would assume these are the troops being withdrawn. The old bait & switch that we know this enemy employs with reckless abandon.
