Rove will NOT BE indicted
Who wants to take bets with me. If Rove is indicted, I will change my sig line to "I'm the dimbulb who thought Rove wouldn't be indicted. - alcibiades_mystery" for three months.

If Rove is not indicted, you have to change your sig line to "alcibiades_mystery made me look silly about Rove" for three months.

Timeframe: 1 month, 30 days. Rove must be indicted within the next 30 days for you to win. But, as a hedge, you can take down the sig line if Rove is indicted anytime during the following 3 months, and I'll put up mine.

35. Timeframe is in your favor
Your sig line must go up if Rove is NOT indicted within 30 days. It must stay up for three consecutive months following that 30 day period.

My signature line will go up immediately upon news that Rove has been indicted, should he be indicted in the next 30 days, and will stay up for 3 months from that point.

As a bonus: If Rove is not indicted in the next 30 days, but is indicted at any time during the 3 month penalty, you can immediately take your penalty signature line down and I will immediately put mine up, but only until the end of the initial 3 month period.

49. 30 days is not in my favor, since...
I am not sure any indictments would come down before fall. This GJ just began less than 6mos ago. Libby's came down at the end of that last GJ.

They only send them out to folks they intend to indict.

Stupid post - stupid bet - my mom taught me not to take advantage of folks. Taking your bet would be taking advantage of you.

7. Go ahead - fuck with the jinx
When will you civilians (non-lawyers) realize that you're just hexing THE WHOLE THING when you start playing these mindless games on the basis on no zip none nada zilch information/knowledge?

Let it go. Let it unwind. You know nothing. I know nothing. No one knows anything. Fitzgerald is in charge, and he's very good at his job.

And stop this stuff. We old lawyers take it very seriously. I've seen the jinx at work far too many times. Ask any old lawyer.

And, by the way, respect for a time-honored jinx is a sign of intelligence. You don't know until you've been smote that you've made a big mistake. Ask any old lawyer. Go ahead.

Anyway, I await the source of your insider information. Thank you.

An indictment is being sought already. Rove went in of his own voalition to try and persuade them it was all innocent and the first 8 times shouldn't count. That's a gutsy bet when the deck is already stacked so high against you.;)

51. The prime reason they are untouchable...
is solely because so many people, like you, believe it. Checked the polls recently? That belief level is leaking like a New Orleans levee. I believe Rove and Cheney will both be indicted. It's a matter of conviction.

16. I keep asking myself:
If Rove was going to be indicted, why the sideways move in the recent WH shake-up? Why not get rid of him completely if they knew he was about to bit it?

Assuming the WH know what's coming down the line (which one suspects they must), I don't know why he is still so close to the big boys.

That makes me wonder if they know he is safe.

37. Stalling for time, that's all.
Sometimes I think the Bush WH does things in stages to soften a blow they know they can't avoid. They don't want to have TOO big a mess when it all hits the fan at once, so they try to slow it down when they know they can't stop it. That's how I interpreted last week's mini-shakeup when they retired Scotty and relieved Karl of "some" of his duties anyway.

Stalling for time allows them to create the "look over there!" distractions they love so much.

22. A proposed amendment to your bet, alcibiades_mystery.
I want to dive in to the speculation but I thought Dick Gephardt would win the 2004 Iowa caucus.

At least early on.

When he was buried alive, it was clear my early prediction skills sucked. So I won't jump in on the Rove indictment question.

I will propose this amendment: I say that on or just before June 1st of this year, Karl Rove will be the victim of spontaneous combustion, one of those rare statistical anomalies.

It will happen at a gas pump in Arlington, Virginia.

Late at night.

The tabloids will bray like jackasses for weeks that foul play was afoot, but none will have been; the guy will just have blown up in and of his own volition.

When that much evil bile backs up in your system for that long, a spontaneous KABOOM is the only logical outcome.

Basically, you're just betting on the accuracy of Rawstory's info. All we know for sure at this point is that he's been called back to testify, which is promising but not definite.

39. the beauty is, he can't pardon him without handing the Dems
the 2006 elections.

Nixon...and Ford all over again.. If pardons him or Libby he looks like a co-conspirator (which he is).

then again perhaps you are right. Could it be why they released the fact that Bush "declassified information" to soften the reasoning for the pardon? You can hear it now right. "Since I declassified that there is no reason to not pardon him."

Either way I don't the republican party is a party of can do anymore, It's stained with Iraq, high gas prices, an endless war endless debt, a failing economy (disintegrating middle class). The bad news is, we are going to inherit their mess YET again to clean up.
