Second 'brooming' lawsuit filed in Pima County
http://www.azstarnet.com/sn/hourlyupdate/126439.php

Four boys who say they were assaulted by Bennett's son, 18-year-old Clifton Roy Bennett, and two other junior counselors have filed suit in Pima County Superior Court, each seeking a minimum of $75,000 for their pain, suffering, discomfort, and mental anguish.

~snip~

Another lawsuit over the broomings was filed by Tucson attorney Lynne M. Cadigan on behalf of two local victims earlier this month, in Maricopa County. That lawsuit did not name the juvenile as a defendant, but did name Bennett and his parents, the Arizona Association of Junior High Student Councils and the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona.
The criminal case against the younger Bennett and Wheeler named 18 victims — all boys ages 11 to 15. Three of the boys are from the Tucson area.

~snip~

The most recent civil suit, filed April 12, says Bennett, Wheeler and the teen from Sahuarita physically overpowered the younger boys to the ground or against a wall, "thrusting a broomstick into the buttocks of each boy with enough force to restrict movement, and, in some cases, to pin them to a wall and cause penetration into the buttocks of each camper, all such acts thereby causing physical injury."

Hopefully, they'll receive justice in civil court, unlike the injustice that was perpetrated in the criminal case.

1. The Senator did a heck of a job raising that kid. Instilled what we have
come to recognize as solid republican values.

2. Good
Make those punks pay forever. Since the criminal justice system was obviously bought and paid for down there, maybe the victims can get monetary damages. Small comfort I suppose, but one does what one can.

3. This should be a slam dunk civil case
because, I believe, the perpetrators have pleaded guilty to a criminal charge in the matter. All that is required is preponderance of evidence, and I think these guilty pleas would go a long way towards meeting that requirement.

6. It's appalling that they were let off so easily in the criminal case.
What you say makes sense and I hope that justice will prevail in civil court.

7. Shameful, inhumane, vile
And it's yet another assault to the victims that the perpetrators of this crime are not being held fully accountable for it.
