Preparing for the Economic Typhoon
One thing is absolutely certain; Bush will stick by his constituents to the bitter end. It is physically impossible for him to act in the interests of the American people. He won’t be deterred by the falling dollar, the deflating housing market, or the skyrocketing energy prices. He’ll make his budget-busting tax cuts permanent and plunge the country into a sea of red ink.

Betting that George Bush will do the wrong thing for the nation is not a matter of conjecture; it is a mathematical certainty. He is deliberately destroying the middle class, the prospects for upward mobility, and the currency. The economic underpinnings of American democracy have been demolished in just 6 short years. Smart people will prepare themselves for the typhoon ahead.

1. Thanks
for the warning. Its been all over the web for many, many months now. People talk on the streets and know. But, none of them know what to do as they are still in shock over scandal after scandal, and in total disbelief its happening - they all ask "why - why are they doing this to (us)?"

Sad times...

2. What does this mean?
How do you like the idea that half of your savings will be erased through executive fiat?

What is executive fiat? Anyone know?

4. Inflation in prices (decline in the purchasing power of the dollar)
brought about by the constant creation of new money. That's why the M3, or measure of total money supply, is no longer being reported. They can create trillions with the press of a button now, and there is nothing we can do about it until it takes a shopping cart full of money to buy a loaf of bread.

3. "Permanent" means only until the next Congress comes in
and with any luck we'll get rid of the worst supply side lunatics in the bunch and the next Congress will roll back those ruinous tax cuts. Wages will need to be raised, from the minimum wage up. That will also increase revenues.

They will have to if they want this country to survive.

The only thing left to cut is the Pentagon. That needs to be done, too, but what spineless politician wants to be seen as soft on defense? Look at what happened to Clinton when he enacted the cuts Cheney proposed during the last 2 years of Daddy Bush's administration.
