Should eBay and other auction sites have to post fraud numbers? |
|
It's probably something that needs to happen on a state level, but I gotta think that as a consumer protection, there should be some requirement. I suppose the answer is that no one on eBay pays taxes, so why should the government protect you, but...
I'm only talking about unresolved fraud complaints. I know there are thousands of complaints every year. Maybe people should know what they're getting into more.

2. Actually the FBI has a task force |
|
that deals strictly with online auction fraud. They take it very seriously. http://www.fbi.gov/majcases//fraud/internetschemes.htm

3. Someone just filed a charge-back against me. |
|
I wonder if I should report them to the FBI. They have the item they won and they got their money back by telling their credit card that their card was use fraudulently. (I have email from them acknowledging otherwise) Essentially they stole from me.

A friend of mine caught a fraudster on Ebay. They are in the process of getting her arrested on mail fraud charges. Essentially what she was doing was selling broken merchandise and claiming it was broken in the mail. Then the people were filing claims against the USPS. My friend bought a lighter from her, description stated it had been used recently and was in excellent working condition. When she took it to have it fixed, the man who was repairing it said that it hadn't had lighter fluid in it for at least 10-15 years (he could tell from the wick).

5. I've gotten ripped off on Ebay several times. Ebay's response |
|
was "nothing we can do" to "she doesn't answer her emails". I've filed complaints with the FBI and various state attorney generals. Not a peep from any of them. All Ebay really does is take away their sellers rights. Big deal.
As for the charge back, I had one of those. I got caught with a stolen credit card scam. Sure are a lot of dishonest people out there.
